POSITION SUMMARY

The Supply Planning [Materials] Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, storage, and distribution of materials to ensure efficient, cost-effective operations. This includes managing inventory levels, maintaining procurement system settings (including lead times), and ensuring materials are ordered and delivered on time. The role also involves coordinating with departments to meet production needs and overseeing assembly planners to ensure parts and components are properly prepared and available per system requirements.

This role can be based at one of our following locations: Brooklyn Park, MN; Greenwood, IN; Louisville, KY; Roanoke, VA

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the storage, handling, and distribution of materials to ensure inventory levels align with production needs and operational goals.
  • Maintain and update procurement system settings, including lead times, order quantities, and reorder points, to ensure timely material availability.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to optimize storage costs while ensuring materials are available when and where needed.
  • Manages and Directs work of functional team, including hiring, corrective action, performance appraisals and pay review, budget and processes.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a large team, manage performance, and foster a collaborative and productive work environment in accordance to Wurth basic principles.
  • Implement training programs to ensure staff are equipped with necessary skills and knowledge, including new employee onboarding.
  • Manage workforce planning, staffing, and labor relations to meet operational requirements.
  • Implement strategies to reduce stockouts, minimize excess inventory, and manage inventory turnover.
  • Oversee production planners to ensure materials are properly kitted, prepared, and ready according to system requirements.
  • Ensure proper organization of parts and components for timely assembly and production processes.
  • Implement best practices for materials management and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Analyze material needs and trends in conjunction with the Manager of Forecasting to anticipate demand and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
  • Track and report on material usage, procurement costs, and inventory performance to inform decision-making.
  • Provide training and support to team members to enhance performance and productivity.
  • Facilitate communication between departments to align material availability with project timelines.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to address challenges and optimize workflows.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or logistics, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and ERP software.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CPSM) is a plus.

Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 per year

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, skills, work experience and certifications. You may also be eligible to participate in an annual incentive bonus. An incentive bonus, if any, depends on various factors such as organizational performance.
