To thrive as an Inventory Manager, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a background in supply chain management or logistics, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with inventory management software (like SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) and data analysis tools is typically required. Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving ability, and effective communication help you coordinate with vendors and internal teams. These skills are crucial for maintaining optimal stock levels, reducing costs, and ensuring smooth operations within any organization.

How does an inventory manager collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient stock management?

Inventory Managers work closely with purchasing, sales, and logistics teams to maintain optimal stock levels and avoid shortages or overstock situations. Regular communication with these departments helps forecast demand, coordinate deliveries, and align inventory with sales trends. Effective collaboration ensures inventory data stays accurate and supports the company's operational and financial goals. A proactive approach to interdepartmental teamwork is essential for addressing any supply chain disruptions quickly.

to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Procurement & Inventory Supervisor, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient receipt of incoming raw materials, components, and other deliveries to the steel manufacturing facility. This role ensures materials meet quality standards and are properly recorded and stored. If you are a detail-oriented, dependable individual who enjoys working with your hands and keeping things organized, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

  • Overlook/Oversee incoming shipments using forklifts or cranes.
  • Inspect materials for damage or defects and verify against purchase orders or delivery slips.
  • Document and report discrepancies or damages to the appropriate departments.
  • Enter receiving data into inventory or ERP systems as well as cut off from the shop.
  • Accurately enter all incoming paperwork into our system and promptly hand it off to the relevant team members.
  • Label and organize materials in designated storage areas.
  • Communicate with procurement, quality control, and production departments.
  • Inform the purchaser of low inventory levels and assist with organizing and restocking materials in the yard.
  • Inform the purchaser of any backorder situations or missing items to ensure timely resolution and project continuity.
  • Manage yard inventory counts and stock rotation.
  • Maintain stock levels in vending machines for shop supplies and restock as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving areas.
  • Order material and parts under the control and supervision of Supervisor or Operations Manager.
  • Safe operation of overhead crane and mobile equipment for material movement.
  • Follow safety protocols and proper handling procedures for heavy or hazardous materials.
  • Will be required to work outside in various weather conditions.

This job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties. You may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in receiving or warehouse operations, ideally in an industrial or steel setting.
  • Ability to read packing slips, bills of lading, and purchase orders.
  • Forklift and/or crane certification (preferred).
  • Basic computer skills; ERP or warehouse management system experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Active participation in company safety program
  • Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures and practices

What Morskate Manufacturing Offers

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience

  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits after 3 months
  • Every Sunday guaranteed off
  • Hands-on training, mentorship, and ongoing skill development
  • Career growth and advancement opportunities within a growing company
  • Supportive, team-oriented workplace where collaboration and quality matter
  • Join a company that's expanding and investing in its people and its future
  • Fast-paced, collaborative team environment

We offer competitive starting wages beginning at $25 per hour, with final rates determined by your experience, skill level, and how well you align with the role. We appreciate dedication and commitment, and we conduct thorough performance reviews after three months and annually to acknowledge outstanding work and support employee growth.
