Job description

Are you looking to kickstart your career in Information Technology? We are seeking a motivated, hands-on IT Support Intern to join our team for the summer. This part-time role offers valuable, real-world experience in hardware management, deployment, and IT operations. If you love tearing down and building PCs, keeping hardware organized, and ensuring systems run smoothly, this is the perfect opportunity to build your resume and learn from seasoned professionals.
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (30 hours/week)
Responsibilities
As our IT Intern, you will dive straight into the hardware and operational side of our IT department. Your core duties will include:
  • PC Builds & Deployment: Assemble, configure, and prepare desktop and laptop hardware for deployment to end-users.
  • PC Decommissioning: Securely retire older hardware, ensuring proper data wiping and component recycling/disposal according to company policy.
  • Inventory Control: Track incoming and outgoing hardware, maintain accurate asset logs, and assist in managing physical tech stock.
  • Organization & Maintenance: Keep the IT department, cable storage, and spare parts inventory organized, clean, and easily accessible.
  • Software & Firmware Updates: Perform routine maintenance and software/firmware updates on various office products, including network copiers, scanners, and peripheral devices.

Requirements
  • Education: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an IT, Computer Science, or related technical program (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • Hardware Familiarity: Strong foundational knowledge of PC components (CPUs, RAM, storage, motherboards) and how to assemble/disassemble them.
  • Detail-Oriented: A knack for organization-you hate messy cable drawers and love accurate spreadsheets.
  • Basic Networking & Software Knowledge: Familiarity with Windows/Mac OS and basic understanding of office hardware (copiers, printers, scanners).
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally (moving boxes of PCs, monitors, or printers).
  • Reliability: Ability to consistently commit to the Monday-Thursday, 9 AM - 5 PM schedule.
