Job Summary: The Senior Inventory Accountant will provide analysis and accounting over retail and supplies inventory.  This is a dynamic role, requiring the development and implementation of strong monthly processes over inventory accounting and analyzing the cost of goods sold by product.

Reports to: Assistant Controller

Essential Job Duties performed

  • Ensure the integrity of inventory accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
  • Understand the inventory system (ENVI) and extra data for detailed financial analysis of products.
  • Maintain the inventory- related general ledger accounts.
  • Provide support on monthly counts, particularly for retail inventory.
  • Provide various monthly cost analysis by product
  • Assist in annual audit preparation, as related to inventory and cost of goods sold accounts.
  • Assist in the development of processes and controls to assure accurate inventory accounting.
  • Provide data to assist in fair value accounting, including assessing obsolescence, spoilage and shrinkage.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for costs of goods sold
  • Assist in monitoring pricing discounts for products sold.
  • Prepare margin analytics for products sold.
  • Strong analytical, time management, and Microsoft Excel skills are required. The person should be able to prioritize and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work.
  • This position will require 25% travel to be onsite with the retail operation monthly, during the inventory close process. Outside of required travel, this position will be remote, with workspace in corporate offices available. 

Job related proficiencies

  • Possess strong data analysis skills
  • Expected to be proficient in data mining the inventory system (ENVI) within 3 months.
  • Experience in inventory accounting and analysis
  • Demonstrate proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI and other data analysis tools

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • 5 years of work experience in inventory accounting or related field.
