Job description

Come join Intuit's accounting organization as a Senior Accountant. We are looking for creative problem solvers with a passion for innovation to join our team and revolutionize the way the world does business. The role is in San Diego, CA (this is not a remote opportunity). This leader is primarily responsible for ensuring the accounting and operations functions are working accurately, efficiently, aligned to our policies.

As an individual contributor, responsibilities include contract reviews and assessing the accounting implications  including AP accruals, expenses, prepaid, fixed assets, and revenue-related accounts,


The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills with the ability to organize self and team to deliver against critical objectives and priorities. They will have the ability to collaborate and lead across multiple functions and roles. This leader will be able to navigate difficult issues successfully with the ability to drive issues through to resolution and validation.


Responsibilities

  • Support the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting of liabilities and expenses.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the end-to-end operational and financial environment, including key upstream and downstream processes that drive liability accruals and expense classifications.
  • Review and interpret contracts and vendor agreements to assess accounting implications and ensure proper classification in accordance with Company policy.
  • Support accrual accounting processes across liabilities and expenses, including vendor rebates and other recurring obligations.
  • Perform technical accounting research on specific issues and present findings and recommended positions to support decision-making.
  • Apply professional skepticism and an inquisitive approach to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of accounting conclusions, clearly articulating positions and driving issues through to resolution with transparency.
  • Perform control procedures and support the maintenance of a strong process and internal control environment to ensure compliance with Company policy.
  • Anticipate and communicate risks from new or changed systems, processes, and accounting standards, assessing potential impact on current operations.
  • Stay current on relevant accounting standards and proactively flag potential impacts to operations and policy.
  • Proactively collaborate cross-functionally and cultivate strong relationships with partners across Accounting, Finance, and the Business to facilitate timely, high-quality decision-making on liability and expense matters.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve processes, including leveraging AI and automation tools to drive efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the development and delivery of training programs to help business partners understand expense coding policies and best practices.

San Diego: 112,500-152,500

Bay Area: 119,500-161,500


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to close processes, accrual accounting, and internal controls.
  • Must be able to work out of our San Diego or Mountain View office at least 3 days a week.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and ability to apply accounting principles in practice.
  • Ability to perform technical accounting research and clearly communicate positions to both accounting and non-accounting audiences.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPA or active CPA candidate preferred.
  • Experience reviewing contracts and interpreting vendor agreement terms preferred.
  • Familiarity with Coupa, CLM, Oracle, or BlackLine preferred.
