Job description

P&R CAAS- Senior

Overall:

This individual helps lead and manage multiple engagements to deliver quality CAAS services for our clients. This position offers excellent opportunities for leadership and career advancement to the right candidate.  Our friendly firm allows hybrid work for qualified staff members after an initial training period.  Long-term, full-time employees can participate in a health care plan partially funded by the firm, and 401k plan after a qualifying employment period.  We're looking for a skilled candidate who loves clients to come and help us grow!

Our Vision for this position

We envision our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) senior to be someone who can coordinate & manage write-up work, payroll processing & returns (we process most of our returns through ADP), sales tax returns, tangible returns, and preparation of non-attest financial statements or other engagements. This unique person would need to be super organized and begin documenting our workflows, standardizing our transmittal letters and processes, bringing consensus among the staff accountants and championing a unified "P&R way" of doing things. He/she would also be responsible for being the "go-to" expert on the various apps available to streamline our CAAS offerings such as QBO, Xero, Bill.com, LedgerSync, Receipt Bank, etc. This person will not only be training the new staff on our "App Stack" but also identifying clients who could benefit from a more streamlined process (Apps), meeting with and selling those clients on the benefit, on-boarding those clients and then transitioning the ongoing maintenance of those clients to the accounting staff. The ultimate goal would be to “package” the conversion of manual client accounting processes into a standardized, possibly more automated, workflow either supervised or assisted by the firm. Developing and supervising “Advisory” engagements under the Thomson Reuters Practice Forward model will be a big part of the job function.

Must be able to clean up accounting.

Job description/functions

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients and consult with them regularly concerning financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, processes & procedures and other general business issues.

  • Prepare and/or review financial statements for clients across multiple industry sectors.

  • Develop and streamline accounting processes and financial planning and analysis.

  • Provide suggestions and ideas for cost reduction and efficiency gains.

  • Maintain organized work papers and supporting documentation.

  • Affirm budgeted engagement hours and deadlines.

  • Schedule internal and external deadlines to meet client expectations for delivery.

  • Work with other teams (TAX, CAAS, ASSURANCE, OPERATIONS) on joint engagements such as where we prepare financials and a tax return for the same client.

  • Work closely with the Tax and Assurance team leadership to coordinate scheduling of Client Accounting & Advisory (CAAS) Team.

  • Work closely with the Tax and Assurance team to coordinate missing information and data analysis for firm engagements.

  • Identify and communicate accounting matters to senior managers and partners.

  • Lead by example to positively impact employee morale.

  • Inspire, train and mentor junior staff members to enable them to reach their maximum potential and provide constructive feedback as necessary.

  • Regularly look for opportunities, recommendations, and additional firm services that could benefit clients.

  • Represent the firm in community activities and professional associations.

  • Preparation of mid to basic level federal and state income taxes for individuals, businesses, real estate, and exempt organizations.

  • Analyze notices and prepare internal memoranda, written correspondence/guidance and other documents for submission to the IRS, Treasury Department or state and local taxing authorities.

  • Assist in preparing tax planning estimates/projections.

  • Recommend tax saving strategies to clients and staff on engagements.

  • Manage the firm’s relationship with ADP (Retail & Wholesale), Intuit, and other vendors in our “Tech Stack"

  • Manage Payroll, Personal Property Tax, Sales Tax, & Accounting (&AJE) engagements
