Job description

Job Title: Field Service Advisor
Location: Lakeville Minnesota
Company: Interstate Power Systems
Pay Range: $25-$32/hour DOE
Position Overview
Interstate Power Systems is seeking a Field Service Advisor to join our Lakeville, Minnesota team. In this customer-facing technical role, you will serve as the primary liaison between on-site technicians, fleet customers, and our service operations. You will coordinate field repairs, provide parts and labor estimates, and ensure minimal downtime for critical power systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for field service inquiries from fleet managers, owner-operators, and equipment operators.
  • Manage the end-to-end invoicing process, including reviewing work orders, verifying labor and material charges, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring invoices are issued accurately and on schedule.
  • Coordinate with operations, technicians, and accounting to ensure all billable work is captured and invoiced correctly.
  • Create detailed repair scopes, cost estimates, and work orders for field technicians.
  • Schedule and dispatch field service technicians while optimizing routes and technician workloads.
  • Coordinate parts procurement and delivery to job sites to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Conduct post-repair follow-ups and quality assurance checks with customers.
  • Maintain accurate service records, warranty documentation, and customer communication logs in Dealer Management Systems (e.g., CDK, Procede, Decisiv).
  • Identify upselling opportunities for preventive maintenance, extended warranties, and power system upgrades.

Qualifications:
Required
  • 3+ years of experience in heavy-duty truck, trailer, or industrial generator service (dealership, fleet, or field environment).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and power generation equipment.
  • Proven customer service skills with the ability to explain technical issues in clear, non-technical terms.
  • Proficiency with service management software and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel).

Preferred
  • Prior field service experience with on-site repairs of Class 6-8 trucks, reefer trailers, or standby/emergency generators.
  • OEM certifications (e.g., Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Allison Transmission, Kohler, Generac, Carrier/Transport Refrigeration).
  • Experience in warranty administration and OEM portal systems.
  • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck or Power Generation certifications.
