Job description

Description

NetFire is looking for a capable, customer-focused Windows Systems Administrator to help manage and optimize the Windows server and network infrastructure that powers our clients' day-to-day operations. This role sits at the intersection of hands-on engineering and customer service: you'll be the person clients trust when something breaks, when something needs to be built, and when something needs to be made faster, safer, or more reliable. You'll work alongside a skilled team of administrators and engineers in a fast-paced environment, with real ownership over the systems you support and meaningful opportunities to grow your career.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer-facing technical support through help desk, phone, and live chat, with a focus on professionalism, clarity, and SLA adherence.
  • Prioritize and manage support tickets based on severity, impact, and service-level commitments.
  • Maintain and optimize Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and related services.
  • Administer Hyper-V environments, including VM lifecycle management, clustering, failover, storage, and performance tuning.
  • Perform system patching, updates, and security enhancements on servers and workstations during established maintenance windows.
  • Conduct regular system audits, covering permission reviews, account audits, event log analysis, and configuration compliance checks.
  • Work with Veeam Backup & Replication to configure jobs, monitor backup health, perform restores, and contribute to disaster recovery planning.
  • Use PowerShell to automate routine tasks, generate reports, and maintain environments efficiently.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networking devices, and other infrastructure components.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and security using monitoring tools, performance counters, and event logs, proactively addressing issues before they escalate.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, runbooks, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Participate in after-hours support when required for maintenance windows, urgent operational needs, or system outages.

Benefits:

  • Salary: Full-time, salaried position with commission structure.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Includes Health, Dental, Vision, Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance.
  • Vacation: Paid Time Off provided.
  • Retirement: 401k plan with company matching.
  • Opportunity for Advancement: Engage in roles that promote personal and professional growth.
  • Startup Environment: Play a pivotal role in shaping projects and directly witness your contributions come to life.
  • Cutting-Edge Technology: Join a tech-forward company always at the forefront of technological innovations.
  • Collaborate with Experts: Be part of a team of proficient professionals offering comprehensive training and mentorship.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Administration, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required for candidates without a degree.
  • Technical certifications and demonstrated self-directed learning (home labs, online courses, hands-on projects, etc.) are welcomed and may substitute for formal education in exceptional cases.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of professional experience in an IT or technology support environment.
  • Experience supporting customers in a service provider or MSP environment is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated comfort working with ticketing systems, SLAs, and structured escalation processes.

Technical Skills:

Operating Systems:

  • Windows 10 / 11 (advanced experience required)
  • Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022 / 2025 (advanced experience required)
  • Linux (Debian-based and/or RHEL-based) - basic experience preferred
  • macOS / iOS - optional

Software & Ecosystems:

  • Active Directory - required (Group Policy, OU structure, DNS, account management)
  • Hyper-V - required (VM lifecycle management, clustering, failover troubleshooting)
  • PowerShell - intermediate scripting experience required
  • Azure AD / Entra ID - preferred (identity, sync, group management)
  • Veeam Backup & Replication - experience preferred

Technical Foundation:

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
  • Solid grasp of patching strategies, maintenance windows, and system hardening.
  • Experience performing security and configuration audits.
  • A methodical troubleshooting approach - the kind of admin who reads the logs before reaching for the reboot button.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear, user-friendly explanations.
  • Customer-service mindset with the ability to stay calm and effective under pressure.
  • Strong organizational habits and a genuine appreciation for good documentation.
  • A collaborative team player who also operates well independently.
