Associate Visualization Designer (Unreal Engine)
LOCATION

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
AOA is seeking a Visualization Designer to create compelling visual content and cinematic presentations for themed entertainment projects. This role focuses on visual storytelling in Unreal Engine, translating design intent into polished scenes, images, animations, and rendered sequences that communicate ideas clearly, emotionally, and beautifully.
The ideal candidate has a strong artistic eye and a passion for creating high-quality visual work in Unreal Engine. They should be comfortable developing scenes across a range of visual styles, from photorealistic to artistic to stylized, and understand how to use composition, lighting, mood, materials, and camera language to bring an idea to life. While this role will often focus on pre-rendered media and cinematic output, the ideal candidate should also understand how to build assets and scenes thoughtfully so they can be efficiently leveraged for other uses when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create high-quality environments, scenes, and visual presentations in Unreal Engine
  • Develop compelling still images, animated sequences, flythroughs, and cinematic renderings that clearly and effectively communicate design intent
  • Translate design direction into compelling visual storytelling through lighting, mood, composition, camera work, and scene development
  • Build scenes across a range of visual styles, including photorealistic, artistic, and stylized looks
  • Collaborate closely with designers, art directors, and project teams to support concept development and presentation goals
  • Refine materials, assets, lighting, atmosphere, and environmental details to elevate the overall quality of the work
  • Create content primarily for pre-rendered output while maintaining awareness of optimization and asset organization for potential downstream use
  • Help organize files, scenes, and assets in a clear, professional manner to support team collaboration and project continuity
  • Support revisions, design iterations, and presentation updates throughout a project
  • Contribute to a collaborative, creative, and solutions-oriented studio culture

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional experience with Unreal Engine for high-quality visualization, cinematic rendering, or environment creation
  • Strong artistic sensibility in composition, lighting, color, materials, mood, and cinematic presentation
  • Experience creating polished visual scenes, rendered sequences, or presentation-driven media for design communication or storytelling
  • Ability to work across a range of visual styles, from photorealistic to artistic or stylized
  • Strong understanding of camera language, visual storytelling, and presentation-focused image-making
  • Experience collaborating with creative teams and interpreting design direction
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating visual quality, design sensibility, and Unreal Engine work

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience creating pre-rendered media, cinematic sequences, or animated flythroughs in Unreal Engine
  • Experience in themed entertainment, experiential design, hospitality, attractions, or related industries
  • Familiarity with Sequencer, lighting workflows, materials, atmosphere, and environment polish in Unreal
  • Experience with stylized rendering or non-photoreal visual development
  • Familiarity with DCC tools such as Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, Photoshop, or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Understanding of efficient asset organization and scene-building practices
  • Familiarity with Perforce / P4V is a plus
  • Experience supporting client-facing presentations or design communication through visualization

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Visualization, Animation, Game Art, Digital Arts, Environmental Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in Unreal Engine visualization, cinematic content creation, environment art, or related visual production

Physical / Travel Requirements
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods as needed
  • Ability to participate in meetings, presentations, and collaborative work sessions
  • Travel as needed
  • Ability to support studio collaboration, design reviews, and presentation development as required
