Position Summary:
The Development Manager is a key member of the Development team who functions as both a forward-facing fundraising team member, and a manager and facilitator of stewardship and cultivation strategies and events for the entire fundraising team. They will work closely with the Development Director and President & CEO, along with the leadership and artistic team, to execute exceptional cultivation and stewardship of supporter relationships and engagement with Anderson Ranch. An essential function of this role is to, lead key fundraising programs and initiatives, and support leadership and artistic colleagues in donor relations. It is critical that the Development Manager represent Anderson Ranch with a high level of integrity and professionalism, including organization, reliability, discretion, and approachability. This role also requires availability on evenings and weekends in order to prepare for and attend related events.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Cultivation and Stewardship Events: Responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of 20+ donor cultivation and stewardship events. Ensure high-quality, unique events and experiences that are offered to top supporters and prospects by working closely with the artistic, development, and events execution team. Secure hosts for most events and act as key representative for those hosts. Manage thoughtful invitation lists, RSVP processes, and follow-up messaging. Events are expected to be of the highest service level and communicate the Ranch's unique mission. In addition, serve as an ambassador and provide personalized attention to supporters engaged in community events, lectures, and workshops, helping to connect them with colleagues, guest artists, and faculty.
  • Corporate Underwriting Program: Grow and lead the strategy and execution of the Ranch's corporate sponsorship program, assuring advanced planning, consistent benefits, exposure offerings, and securing formal written agreements that ensure the consistent delivery of benefits. Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate sponsors in order to steward successful experiences. Oversee and manage a portfolio of approximately 10 existing corporate sponsorship relationships. Secure additional, authentic corporate sponsors using proven techniques in identifying and cultivating partners that will continue to be supporters of Anderson Ranch year after year.
  • Key Major Gift Team Member: Support the Development Director and President & CEO team approach by serving as a core member of the Major Gifts team. Support the team in identifying and being a key strategist for major gift opportunities; working with colleagues and trustees to strategically cultivate major gift support ranging from scholarship, endowment gifts, planned giving, special project support, and identifying potential new trustees. In addition, this role will be responsible for preparing robust reports to supporters on major and special gifts, scholarships, and endowment support driven by the understanding that creative and consistent follow-up inspires repeat and increased giving. Actively tracking gift agreement requirements for the team to ensure delivery of proposed outcomes. Working with the Development Assistant and artistic team to collect quotes from scholarship and artist-in-residence participants, introducing scholarship recipients to underwriters, as well as coordinating personal thank-you initiatives from participants and appropriate colleagues to show appreciation and impact.
  • Scholarship Stewardship: Track scholarship students and respective donors to arrange for introductions. Liaison with Artisitic Team for all scholarship students and colleges represented by donor funding.
  • Development Team Projects: Assist Director with Development Team projects such as student workshop prospects, Funding menu, donor/board prospect bios, marketing and invitation review, etc.
  • Database Tracking, Analyzing and Reporting: Serve as the team lead in using the database to track relationship portfolios, future actions, meeting outcomes, pledges and giving. Ensure timely analysis of trends against goals and performance metrics and report to the team to guarantee early response to challenges and opportunities.

  • Goal Setting and Benchmarking: It is critical that this role maintain a focus on setting goals, benchmarking progress and communicating trends to ensure optimal planning and execution across the organization.
  • Organizational Engagement: As a representative of the organization and our activities to this important group of supporters, it is essential that this individual attend talks, visit workshops and actively engage in the Ranch events. They should help facilitate connections between team members and supporters that deepen connections across the community.
  • Mentoring Colleagues: With a belief that "Everyone is in Development" from the receptionist to the artistic team, to the operations and business unit teams. This position plays an important cooperative role as a facilitator and mentor of all colleagues in identifying, cultivating and supporting organizational relationships across the team.

Education and Experience:

  • Proven track record in non profit fundraising, with experience in donor cultivation and major gift solicitation.
