Role Overview:
We are looking for a strategic government relations leader to build and manage relationships with key stakeholders across the Senate, while partnering with internal teams to advance our mission within the defense ecosystem. This individual will develop and execute a government affairs strategy focused on the Senate aligned to our core technologies, and lead engagement with Senate stakeholders-including key Authorizations and Appropriations Committees-to advocate for policies, funding, and priorities that drive revenue.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate across the Growth team to develop and execute a comprehensive government relations strategy aligned to CHAOS's key programs and core capabilities, with a focus on securing congressional support and funding.
  • Lead CHAOS' authorization and appropriations-focused government relations efforts in the Senate by identifying and advancing policy and funding opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with legislative stakeholders to influence policies, laws, and regulations that support CHAOS's technologies and mission.
  • Provide ongoing insight and guidance to program and executive teams on congressional activity, funding outlooks, and policy developments.
  • Support political engagement strategy, including coordination with PAC-related efforts and attendance at key events.
  • Represent CHAOS on Capitol Hill, including attending hearings, briefing congressional staff, and preparing leadership for testimony and external engagements.

Minimum Requirements:
  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years' experience.
  • Active Security Clearance.
  • Understand the legislative branch and legislative processes associated with the annual appropriations cycle, and the National Defense Authorization Act.
  • Previous Senate experience working on annual appropriations bills.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Prior experience in a corporate government affairs office.
  • Results-oriented self-starter who can operate flexibly and with enthusiasm in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment
  • Strong communications skills-both verbal and written.
  • Knowledgeable of the planning, programming, budgeting, and execution processes.
  • Experience as staff member for a Senate defense appropriator or professional staff member for the Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee.

Salary Range: $180,000 - $250,000
