What are your contributions to the team?
Assist Safety Officer with his general responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
  • Practice and promote safety initiatives and safe working techniques.
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings.
  • Compile weekly safety meeting registers, minutes, and reports.
  • Conduct weekly Foreign Object Debris (FOD) ramp walks.
  • Assist with the generation of safety presentations and reports.
  • Promote safety initiatives, regulations, compliance, and standardization by designing and distributing safety communications.
  • Review safety policies and procedures for currency and applicability and revise documentation as necessary.
  • Review training material for currency and applicability and revise documentation as necessary. Assist with the development, implementation, and documentation of new training material.
  • Provide support for Test Hazard Analysis (THA) reviews, Test Definition Sheet (TDS) reviews, Safety of Flight (SOF) reviews, and Safety Review Board (SRB) activities.
  • Assist with the organization and visibility of the Safety Office to improve efficiency and awareness, primarily utilizing Microsoft Teams.
  • Provide support for the annual BFTC Safety Standdown event.

How to thrive in this role?
  • Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Science required, Engineering preferred.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week, on-site, while enrolled in classes.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, on-site, while not enrolled in classes.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Applications.
  • General knowledge of airplanes and an interest in aviation is required.
  • Proficient in access database and computer programing skills beneficial, but not required.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates. Relocation assistance to Wichita is not available for this position.
