Transportation Operations Analyst Intern

Purpose

We’re seeking a motivated Transportation Operations Analyst Intern to support our Transportation & Logistics team. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates excited to apply data, analytics, and operational problem solving to real world transportation challenges. You will help analyze delivery performance, cost drivers, and workflow efficiency, playing a key role in strengthening our final mile operations and preparing for future growth.

This is a 3 to 6 month paid internship based in Sumner, WA, with 20 to 40 flexible hours per week depending on your academic schedule.

What You’ll Do

Operational Metrics Support

  • Build and maintain key transportation performance metrics, including cost per cabinet delivered, cost per stop, delivery accuracy, and scan compliance.
  • Help establish baseline data before new processes or technologies go live.
  • Support ongoing before and after comparisons to measure the impact of improvements.

Cost & Data Analysis

  • Gather, clean, and organize data from ERP, routing, billing, and delivery systems.
  • Assist in developing cost allocation models including labor, mileage, fuel, and DSP fees.
  • Analyze delivery workflows and routing efficiency to identify improvement opportunities.

Project & Process Exposure

  • Participate in transportation and technology initiatives such as routing optimization, delivery scanning workflows, and DSP performance reporting.
  • Support testing, validation, and data accuracy checks during project rollouts.
  • Collaborate with Transportation leadership and cross functional partners to understand operational workflows end to end.

Reporting & Presentation

  • Prepare charts, tables, summaries, and narrative insights for weekly and monthly reporting.
  • Document methodology, data sources, and assumptions clearly and consistently.
  • Present findings and recommendations to Transportation leadership with guidance and mentorship.

What You Bring

  • Currently pursuing, or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, Operations Management, or Information Systems
  • Strong excel skills and comfort working with robust data sets
  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail
  • Willingness to ask questions and learn operational workflows
  • Previous Internship, coursework, or projects involving data analysis preferred
  • Exposure to logistics, warehousing, or transportation concepts preferred
  • Familiarity with basic cost or financial concepts preferred

  • You accurately support before/after comparisons for transportation initiatives.
