This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of USD 50,000 โ€“ 80,000 yearly, depending on qualifications and experience. Work Environment

This position offers a fully remote work environment, allowing you the flexibility to balance your professional responsibilities with personal commitments. While much of your time will be spent in virtual consultations, you will remain connected with our dedicated multidisciplinary team, participating in regular meetings and training sessions. You will be expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality, adhering to state and federal regulations, including HIPAA.

Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting intake diagnostic assessments, including understanding clients' challenges through comprehensive evaluations like the Gains and LOCUS assessments, crisis planning, and treatment planning.
  • Providing case management and resource linkage to ensure clients access appropriate support services, including referrals for psychiatric assessments when necessary.
  • Developing individualized treatment plans based on thorough assessments of your clients' needs and ensuring that these plans are regularly monitored and adjusted.
  • Delivering both face-to-face and telehealth counseling sessions to accommodate varying preferences and needs.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior therapists and interns, providing guidance to enhance their professional development and effectiveness.
  • Collaborating with clients and their families to monitor treatment progress and behavioral changes, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Participating in clinical and interdisciplinary team meetings to share insights and enhance collaborative care approaches.
  • Performing crisis intervention and diversion as required, employing evidence-based techniques to mitigate immediate mental health crises.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR) for efficient record-keeping.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development through training, seminars, and conferences to elevate your counseling practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will focus on working with a diverse clientele, including individuals facing mental health disorders, intellectual disabilities, and substance use issues. This multicultural group ranges across various socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, and sexual orientations, making cultural sensitivity an essential aspect of your work. The goal is to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship that fosters open communication and respectful interactions.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s Degree in a human services-related field is required, with a focus on mental health counseling or social work.
  • Active licensure in the District of Columbia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
  • Strong active listening skills and attention to detail, with an ability to assess and interpret complex client information.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in using EHRs for documentation and maintaining accurate records according to industry standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stress, adhere to deadlines, and maintain productivity in a remote setting.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience in mental health counseling, particularly within an outpatient outpatient facility, will be advantageous.
  • Experience working with clients from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, with a focus on trauma-informed care practices.
  • Knowledge of community resources and support systems that can be beneficial for clients.
  • Prior involvement in supervisory roles, providing guidance to peers or interns.
