Additional Position Details: FTE: 0.90 | Full Time | 1st Shift - Days | 3 12-hour shifts from 6:45am - 7:15pm, days of the week may change
Salary: Flat rate $22.50 per hour. Plus, you will earn extra shift differentials for swing, night, and weekend hours:
$1.16 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
$2.00 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am
$0.99 extra for working weekends
Position Summary
The Patient Safety Monitor (PSM) primarily assists with providing a safe environment to a specific patient through visual observation. The need for a PSM is initiated and ordered by the attending physician or per hospital policy. In this role the PSM will be responsible for providing customer service to the patient and also notifying the appropriate primary nurse and/or charge nurse of safety issues or concerns. Patient safety monitoring is done both in person, at the bedside, and through an on-site telehealth model. A PSM may observe up to 11 patients on cameras. They will work with care teams to monitor, admit, and discharge patients from virtual monitors and provide breaks to other PSM staff.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the healthcare delivery team by monitoring patient activities as directed by primary nurse, always assuring patient safety.
  • Documenting observation in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Participating in education and Performance Improvement activities to provide a quality service and keep current with industry changes.

Position Qualifications
Experience
  • Previous work or volunteer experience doing customer service type tasks, such as answering questions and communicating information is required.

Certifications/Courses
  • BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start.
  • Asante Crisis Intervention course must be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Asante Safe Patient Handling course must be completed within 30 days of hire.
