Job description

Position Summary
Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is seeking a compassionate Palliative Medicine Physician to join our multidisciplinary Supportive & Palliative Care team. This role focuses on improving the quality of life for patients with serious illnesses by addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs through comprehensive symptom management and advance care planning.
Practice Highlights and Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule is full-time Monday through Friday. No weekends.
  • Provide expert consultation in palliative medicine for patients with complex, chronic, or life-limiting conditions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Conduct goals-of-care discussions and assist patients and families with advance directives and end-of-life planning.
  • Manage symptoms such as pain, fatigue, nausea, anxiety, and dyspnea to enhance patient comfort.
  • Support the hospital's mission to deliver patient-centered, holistic care.

Qualifications:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Active Florida medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in palliative care preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous improvement.

Situated in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg, along Florida's Gulf Coast, Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital St. Petersburg is a comprehensive emergency, medical and surgical acute-care facility, serving the residents of the region for more than 110 years. Bayfront Hospital has been part of the Orlando Health organization since October 2020.
Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is a 480-bed tertiary care center and the only Level II Adult Trauma Center in Pinellas County. With advanced technology and expertise in numerous specialties, including cardiovascular, neuroscience, obstetrics, digestive health, orthopedics, surgery, emergency and trauma, and acute rehabilitation, Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary care. The hospital holds DHV-GL certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Joint Commission certification in hip and knee joint replacement. A 38-bed neurosciences unit has a dedicated neurology team with subspecialty expertise in stroke, epilepsy and Parkinson's disease. Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital has been accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) as a Level 4 adult epilepsy center. This accreditation is reserved for centers providing the most complex forms of intensive neurodiagnostic monitoring, as well as more extensive medical, neuropsychological, and psychosocial treatment. Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, Baby Place offers full obstetrical care and, in partnership with Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, is a state-certified Level III Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center (RPICC) - one of only 13 in Florida.
