Job description

About The Clubhouse Network

The Clubhouse Network is a global community of more than 162 Clubhouses in over 20 countries where young people from under-resourced communities explore their creativity, develop technology skills, and build confidence through hands-on learning experiences. Founded in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab, The Clubhouse Network has spent more than three decades helping youth become creative, self-directed learners through mentorship, design, and project-based learning.

Headquartered in Roxbury, Massachusetts, The Clubhouse Network supports community-based Clubhouses worldwide by providing professional development, technology innovation, partnership opportunities, evaluation tools, and access to a vibrant international community of youth, mentors, and educators. The organization also operates the Flagship Clubhouse in Roxbury, a dynamic learning environment where teens work alongside adult mentors to explore ideas, develop skills, and discover future pathways in STEAM fields.

Through its programs, partnerships, and global community, The Clubhouse Network works to ensure young people have the tools, relationships, and opportunities needed to build meaningful futures.

About the Role

The Director of Development plays a central leadership role in advancing The Clubhouse Network's fundraising strategy and strengthening the philanthropic partnerships that sustain the organization's mission and global impact.

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, and senior leadership team, the Director of Development leads efforts to cultivate and steward major donors, foundations, and corporate partners while expanding the organization's overall fundraising capacity. This position is responsible for developing and managing a strong pipeline of funding opportunities and building relationships that translate into meaningful and sustained philanthropic investment.

This role requires a strategic, relationship-oriented fundraising leader who can both design and execute development strategies. The Director of Development will guide donor engagement efforts, develop compelling funding proposals, and work collaboratively across teams to ensure fundraising efforts align with program priorities and organizational growth.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting a mission-driven organization that is expanding opportunities for young people around the world.

What You'll Do

Strategic Fundraising Leadership

  • Lead the development and implementation of fundraising strategies that support organizational priorities and long-term growth.
  • Build and actively manage a pipeline of prospective donors, corporate partners, and institutional funders.
  • Partner with the CEO to identify, cultivate, and secure major philanthropic investments.
  • Monitor fundraising progress and adjust strategies in response to evolving opportunities and organizational needs.

Major Donor and Institutional Fundraising

  • Cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners aligned with The Clubhouse Network's mission.
  • Develop and submit high-quality grant proposals, funding requests, and stewardship reports.
  • Engage prospective funders through meetings, presentations, and cultivation opportunities that deepen understanding of the organization's work.
  • Partner with the CEO and board members to prepare for and conduct major donor solicitations.

Corporate Partnerships and Strategic Engagement

  • Develop partnerships with corporations and mission-aligned organizations interested in supporting youth development, technology education, and workforce pathways.
  • Identify opportunities for corporate sponsorship, philanthropic investment, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with corporate partners to ensure strong engagement and long-term collaboration.

Events and Donor Engagement

  • Contribute to the planning and fundraising strategy for organizational events such as conferences, summits, and donor gatherings.
  • Develop cultivation opportunities that deepen engagement with existing and prospective supporters.
  • Partner with colleagues across programs and communications to ensure events support both fundraising and mission visibility.

Development Operations and Systems

  • Maintain accurate records of donor engagement and fundraising activity within the organization's donor management system.
  • Support development processes related to donor stewardship, reporting, and gift acknowledgement.
  • Partner with finance and program staff to ensure fundraising data and reporting are accurate and timely.

Organizational Leadership

  • Collaborate with colleagues across programs, communications, and leadership to align fundraising with organizational priorities.
  • Represent The Clubhouse Network in meetings, conferences, and events with partners and supporters.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, transparency, and shared commitment to the organization's mission.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or philanthropic partnership roles.
  • Demonstrated success securing significant philanthropic investments from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Strong experience developing and managing donor pipelines and cultivation strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal development and donor engagement.
  • Experience working with donor management systems such as Salesforce or similar platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and strong follow-through.

Preferred

  • Experience in youth development, education, STEAM learning, or mission-aligned sectors.
  • Experience working closely with executive leadership and boards on fundraising initiatives.
  • Experience building or strengthening development systems within growing nonprofit organizations.
  • Master's degree in nonprofit management, public administration, education, or a related field.

Who You Are

  • A strategic thinker who understands how to translate relationships into meaningful philanthropic investment.
  • A collaborative leader who enjoys working across teams and building partnerships that support mission-driven work.
  • A strong communicator who can clearly articulate the impact and importance of The Clubhouse Network's work.
  • A relationship-builder who values authentic engagement with donors, partners, and colleagues.
  • A mission-driven professional who is passionate about expanding opportunities for young people and advancing educational equity.
