Position Overview
H.B. Fuller is seeking a Sales Trainee to join the North America Rigid Packaging Commercial Team. This 6-to-12-month development program is designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals who are interested in building a career in technical sales. Through a combination of classroom training, field experience, customer engagement, and mentorship, participants will develop the commercial, technical, and business skills needed to progress into a Territory Manager role.
During the program, trainees will work remotely while partnering closely with Account Managers, Technical Service professionals, and commercial leaders across multiple rigid packaging market segments. Training will include H.B. Fuller's sales process, adhesive technologies, manufacturing operations, product applications, business acumen, and customer relationship management. Trainees will regularly travel to customer locations and manufacturing facilities to gain hands-on exposure to real-world customer challenges and solution development.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be expected to relocate to an available U.S. sales territory and assume responsibility for supporting customer growth, business development, and territory management activities.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Complete a structured sales, technical, and market-focused training program
  • Partner with Account Managers and Technical Service teams to support customer accounts
  • Learn H.B. Fuller products, manufacturing processes, applications, and sales tools
  • Participate in customer visits, business reviews, product demonstrations, and technical discussions
  • Respond to customer inquiries and assist in identifying solutions that meet customer requirements
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships across assigned market segments
  • Utilize CRM and sales tools to manage activities, opportunities, and business development efforts
  • Travel to customer sites and manufacturing facilities to gain field experience and support account growth

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Marketing, Business, Sales, or a related field
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to relocate anywhere within the United States upon completion of the training program
  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship

Preferred Requirements
  • 1-3 years of professional, internship, leadership, customer service, or sales experience
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, technical, or business-to-business environments
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and work safely in production environments, including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Demonstrated experience presenting information, building relationships, or influencing stakeholders across teams and organizations

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $60,000-$70,000.
