Mechanical Design Engineer


Location: Omaha, NE (On-site)
Industry: Manufacturing – Food Processing Equipment & Aftermarket Parts


We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team. If you're passionate about designing custom mechanical equipment, solving engineering challenges, and taking projects from concept through production, we'd love to hear from you!


Key Responsibilities

  • Design custom mechanical equipment, components, and systems from concept through manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
  • Reverse engineer existing parts and develop replacement or improved designs.
  • Create detailed SolidWorks models, manufacturing drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, sales, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Support prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.
  • Develop technical documentation, assembly instructions, exploded views, and product manuals.
  • Ensure designs meet customer requirements, manufacturability standards, and food safety regulations.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of mechanical design engineering experience (strong internship/co-op experience will also be considered).
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Mechanical design principles
    • GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
    • CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and DFM/DFA
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
