Job description

Manufacturing Engineering Intern
Sparton is an innovative defense contractor headquartered in DeLeon Springs, Florida, with a rich heritage dating back to 1900. Renowned for our exceptional manufacturing capabilities, we specialize in producing high-quality sonobuoys critical to the United States' undersea warfare arsenal, enhancing national security against current and future adversaries. Our expertise includes advanced research systems, maritime solutions, sophisticated sensor technologies and payload delivery capabilities.
Fall 2026 Internship Opportunity
Position Overview:
Perform tasks and assignments to support project objectives by applying engineering principles and concepts to formulate solutions.
Learning Outcomes:
  • Use time studies and process flows to make production line improvements
  • Work with team members to achieve short term milestones as assigned by project teams.
  • Design, document, and review detailed work instruction and line layouts to achieve team objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support production as assigned by Product Support Teams

Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Support production program failures and analyses as needed
  • Process work instruction changes
  • Support small automation/ operator assistive project design
  • Support tool and fixture design
  • Work with team members to achieve short term milestones as assigned by project teams.
  • Design, document, and review detailed work instruction and line layouts to achieve team objectives.
  • Other assignments may be added / adjusted as applicable

Required Qualifications:
Sparton interns must meet the following criteria:
  • Active pursuit of or within 12 months post-graduation of a Bachelor's or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.
  • Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, preferred.
  • Use time studies and process flows to make production line improvements
  • Minimum 24 hours to commit to the internship, M-F
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30+ credits).
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work on-site in De Leon Springs, FL
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Course Completion in Ergonomics, Automation, and LEAN manufacturing, preferred.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no relocation assistance or sponsorship available for this role.
Mentor: Manufacturing Engineering Manager/ Delegate as needed

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, and communicate, use hands/finger, feel, and reach with arms. This position requires the ability to lift, bend or stoop as necessary up to 20lbs.
