Job description

PRACTICUM and INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Cornerstone Christian Counseling offers counseling for individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and children. Cornerstone holds to a Christian worldview, which matters because what a counselor believes (whether or not this is made overt) impacts the way they counsel. In addition to this, we also strive for clinical excellence. We believe that God has given us the ability to study and implement clinical practices that have been proven to be effective in helping people heal, grow, and thrive.
Our team consists of licensed candidates and fully licensed mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, student practicum/interns, and an incredibly robust administrative support team. Our ultimate goal is to take care of all the business-related details to free you up to do what you're most excited about seeing clients.
Our internship program is for current master's level students who are seeking a degree in mental health counseling or marriage and family therapy through at CACREP-accredited program, and who need to obtain clinical hours for graduation and future licensure. Internships are available at our six Colorado offices, though our internship slots are limited each semester.
  • Castle Rock, CO
  • Centennial, CO
  • Colorado Springs, CO
  • Lakewood, CO
  • Westminster, CO
  • Wheat Ridge, CO

Students can see clients in person from any of these office locations, depending on office availability. Student interns may also see a portion of their clients via tele-therapy if they have a private and professional space within their home/residence.
Cornerstone offers unpaid practicum and internship opportunities at three different start dates throughout the year: the fall (August), spring (January), and summer (May) semesters. Although interns are not directly compensated for direct client services, they are given access to and provided with multiple benefits, such as:
  • paid supervision,
  • beautiful and professional office space for seeing clients,
  • marketing, administrative and billing support,
  • caseload management and strategy support,
  • malpractice insurance,
  • weekly trainings,
  • consultation with licensed therapists who represent a variety of specialties/modalities,
  • a robust resource library, and
  • a variety of potential clientele demographics.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS
  • All practicum/intern students must be enrolled in a Master's Level mental health counseling or marriage and family therapy program and registered in a practicum/internship class with their school.
    • Cornerstone works with a variety of CACREP-accredited schools and programs.
  • Practicum/internship students must utilize their personal laptops/computers. Though iPads or other tablets may be used, our systems work best on laptops.
  • Being punctual, reliable, and timely is a must when managing practicum/internship, in addition to other school requirements and personal life!
  • Weekly Schedule Requirements:
    • Group Supervision
      • Wednesdays 9-11AM MDT
      • All Cornerstone employees and students are required to attend this weekly meeting. Meetings on the first Wednesday of every month are held in person at your office location; all other Wednesdays these meetings are online.
    • Triadic Supervision
      • Cornerstone will pair you up with one of our amazing internship supervisors and another student intern to receive clinical supervision each week. These meetings are required and typically held online. A regular weekly meeting time will be determined when your program begins.
    • Internship Group Meeting (optional)
      • Tuesdays 10-11AM MDT
      • This weekly meeting is optional.
    • Practicum Students (first semester)
      • In addition to the above-stated meetings, practicum students will be required to have 7 hours of schedule availability in their schedule for holding client sessions, which average out to 3-5 client hours/week.
    • Internship Students (second and third semesters)
      • In addition to the above-stated meetings, internship students will be required to have 12 hours of schedule availability in their schedule for holding client sessions, which average out to 8-10 client hours/week.
        • Note: You do not need to complete your practicum with Cornerstone, though it is a requirement that a practicum has been completed before coming in at the internship level with Cornerstone.
    • Weeknight/Weekend Availability
      • All practicum and internship students must have at least one weeknight or Saturday block of availability open in their schedule.

TECHNOLOGY & REMOTE OFFICE REQUIREMENTS
We are a Bring Your Own Device organization. To ensure the highest level of care, security, and operational efficiency, all employees and interns are required to provide their own equipment that meets the minimum technical standards outlined below.
  • Hardware: Reliable PC or Mac with a minimum of an i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD.
  • Internet: A stable, high-speed connection (15-20+ Mbps Download, 5 Mbps Upload, Latency < 100ms).
  • Workspace: A quiet, private, and professional setting with a high-resolution webcam and clear audio, suitable for confidential meetings.
  • Digital Literacy: Proficiency in software and a "self-solving" mindset, utilizing Gemini and internal guides for independent technical troubleshooting.

APPLICATION PROCESS and DEADLINES:
Cornerstone's internship program is highly competitive. Though the number of interns we onboard from semester to semester varies, we typically only have 4-8 spots available each semester. We recommend that you submit your application early, as our internship spots are often filled before the application deadline.
  1. All applications must agree to Cornerstone's Statement of Faith.
  2. Applicants must review the practicum/internship description for program expectations and requirements.
