The Healthcare Economics Consultant partners with Finance, Operations, and Clinical leadership to deliver actionable financial and operational insights. This role develops advanced analyses, forecasting models, and automated reporting solutions to support strategic decision-making, healthcare economics initiatives, and organizational performance. The consultant serves as a trusted advisor by translating complex healthcare and financial data into meaningful business recommendations.
This position is hybrid in San Antonio, TX - with flexibility to come onsite any 3 days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Research, retrieve, design, troubleshoot, and deliver organized analytics regarding healthcare, capitation, accounts receivable, utilization data, claims data and financial accounting data
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in healthcare economics, capitation, medical claims, utilization, revenue performance, and financial data analysis
  • Synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for operational and executive leadership
  • Analyzes and extracts data from the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) to report to internal and external customers
  • Serves as a key resource to Finance teams by providing analytical support and technical expertise
  • Designs, develops, tests, documents and database queries for ad hoc reporting used in complex conceptual analyses
  • Develops systematic reporting processes and procedures to ensure timely delivery of weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reporting to management
  • Recommends and implements new or modified reporting methods and procedures to improve report content and completeness of information
  • Analyze benchmarking data, reports, processes, and measurements for key managed care indicators to recognize trends and assist in developing forecasts and financial planning
  • Collaborates with Finance, Operations, Clinical, IT, and Business Intelligence teams to identify opportunities for performance improvement and process optimization
  • Develop innovative approaches to achieve deliverables and increase efficiency
  • Provides informal leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to analysts and cross-functional project teams
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field required (4+ additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree)
  • 5+ years of general healthcare accounting, finance, or operations experience
  • 2+ years of experience in reporting and analytical role
  • Understanding of the complexity of Member healthcare accounting, claims and revenue
  • Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of reporting and analytic experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a managed care environment
  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, or similar)
  • Experience working with enterprise data warehouses, large healthcare datasets, and automated reporting solutions

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
