Job Summary

Job Description

As a Design Engineer I working in new product development, you have the opportunity to help drive the next generation electric motor designs for commercial and residential motor applications. We are looking for someone with the drive to learn, enthusiasm to exceed customer expectations, and persistence to solve complex technical challenges. Join us as we invent the next generations of high-efficiency, quiet electric motor with the latest technology.

As an Engineer I, you will apply your knowledge, analytical skills and capabilities within a team of experienced electric motor engineers, while learning more to strengthen your technical expertise. You also get the opportunity to support manufacturing engineering on all new designs and participate in the complete product life cycle. This opportunity includes the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop advanced mechanical concepts for New Product Development programs that perform to stated requirements for strength, cost, and reliability

  • Create 2D/3D Pro-E models and layouts for production motor requirements

  • Communicate proposed designs to functional groups outside Engineering

  • Perform structural FEA Analysis

  • Motor airflow ventilation scheme design and fan performance optimization

  • Work directly with suppliers to locate and implement new technologies

  • Initiate new cost reduction concepts and lead initiatives into the production processes

  • Initiate and collaborate on developing solutions to current Quality Control (QC) problems at manufacturing facilities

  • Complete First Piece Article inspection process in Engineering

  • Perform these and other duties and responsibilities through self-initiative, leadership and collaboration to achieve NPD goals

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering

  • 2 years related work experience in electric motors or similar industry preferred

  • New Grad's will be considered

  • Aptitude for Pro/E 2/3D CAD solid modeling skills in supporting new and existing product designs

  • Proficiency in fan, motor ventilation schemes and blower design

  • Possess strong problem-solving skills with experience in fractional motor design and process

  • Demonstrated experience and proven results in driving projects from concept to production

  • Experience working with all functional areas of an organization such as Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Materials.

  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to see and understand elegant design solutions that might not be apparent to others; creative, 'out-of-the-box' thinking

  • Ability to handle competing demands and multi-tasking requirements
