Duties
Instruction & Student Success
  • Deliver engaging, applied instruction in areas including:
    • Network infrastructure (routing, switching, security)
    • Cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, GoogleCloud)
    • Systems administration (Windows Server, Linux) 1
    • Cybersecurity fundamentals and cloud security
    • Network automation and programmability (e.g.,Python, Ansible)
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications such as:
    • Cisco (CCNA, CCNP) AWS (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect)
    • Microsoft Azure (Fundamentals, Administrator) CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+)
    • Windows Server Hybrid Administrator
    • Google Associate Cloud Engineer
  • Integrate real-world labs, simulations, and project-based learning aligned with workforce expectations.
  • Foster critical thinking, troubleshooting, and job ready competencies including communication, teamwork, and adaptability.

Curriculum & Program Developmentโ€ข
  • Continuously update curriculum to reflect emerging technologies, including:
    • Cloud-native architectures
    • DevOps and automation practices
    • Artificial Intelligence (Al) and its role in IT operations
    • Zero Trust and modern cybersecurity frameworks
  • Collaborate with industry partners and advisory boards to ensure alignment with regional and national workforce needs.
  • Contribute to program review, accreditation, and strategic initiatives that strengthen student out comes and employment pathways.

Instructional Technology & Innovation
  • Leverage FTCC's Learning Management System (Canvas) and digital tools to deliver high-quality in-person, hybrid, and online instruction.
  • Integrate Al-enabled learning tools, virtual labs, and cloud-based environments to enhance student engagement and skill development.
  • Ensure all online and hybrid courses meet institutional quality standards.

Student Engagement & Advising
  • Serve as a faculty advisor, mentoring students on academic pathways, certifications, and career opportunities.
  • Support student retention through proactive engagement, tutoring, and academic support strategies.
  • Promote participation in internships, apprenticeships, and work-based learning opportunities.

Professional Engagement & College Service
  • Maintain current knowledge through industry certifications, professional development, and emerging technology trends.
  • Participate in college committees, faculty meetings, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Build partnerships with local employers to strengthen talent pipelines in Eastern North Carolina.

Contribution to the Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs:
  • Sponsor student organizations, as appropriate and assigned, and participate in student-based activities.
  • Foster and sustain collegial relations with colleagues, college representatives, the local community, and professional organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Networking, Information Technology or related field, plus a minimum of 4 years of related work experience OR equivalent combination of education, experience, and advanced industry certifications that include AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Cloud Security, CCNP, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, and Linux.
Preferred Requirements
Master's degree in Information Technology or related field plus a minimum of 2 year of work experience OR equivalent combination of education, experience, and industry certifications that include AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Cloud Security, CCNA, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, and Linux.
