Systems Engineer II : 64756-1
Location: Onsite; Fremont, CA
Duration: 12+ months
The Systems Engineer owns the success of specific dataset collections where external participants are brought into the collection space to go through specific capture protocols. This role is accountable for delivering data to our downstream partners at the agreed-upon quality bar and schedule and is responsible for understanding and negotiating these standards. We work with various research and engineering teams to take an intake request through to completion of data packets delivered. Our site location is geared towards more mature data collections, and this role will focus on systems stability and operational throughput. Systems optimization is indexed towards operational flow improvement and analyzing variables we can tune to remove friction from collection operations.
Role & Responsibilities:
-Project Intake: Scope expected site or room changes for a new collection based on requirements, communicating risk areas and complexity that could impact timelines.
-System Development: Work with partner teams to execute collection room changes, integrating any required systems into the collection environment.
-Test Collection: Partner with engineering team to pull functional software/firmware build candidates for testing in the final site location, providing the final sign off with operations that the systems are ready for production
-Collection Training & Ramp: Work with engineering teams and support staff to generate standard operating procedures for a collection and provide training to extended support staff tasked with conducting collections.
-Collection at Scale: Drive the analysis and resolution of issues affecting throughput and quality.
Qualifications:
- BS in one of Systems/Computer/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
- 2-4 years proven experience identifying and resolving HW/SW production issues in the field Experience in: Command line interfaces, network systems, server systems, control systems
- Ability to engage on ambiguous issues not contained in existing troubleshooting guides
- Determine next steps towards root cause analysis
- Work with partners to execute system level changes to prevent continued incident occurrence
- Component power and trigger signal analysis through use tools like an oscilloscope
- Parsing system & software logs as part of root cause analysis
- Basic understanding of cameras and lenses
- Experience with motion capture, multi-camera systems, time synchronization, robots is a plus
- Excellent communication and partnership skills, particularly within production environments where time is the primary currency
