POSITION SUMMARY

Assists the Public Relations Director in Social Media and web content creation processes for the Communication department and all department supported administration initiatives. Supports the Media Relations strategy developed in coordination with the Associate Director – Public Relations   

COMPENSATION

  • Full- time hourly position with benefits
  • Remuneration: Grade 5 ($22.67 - $34.01)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Implements the department’s Social Media Strategy supporting all communication projects
  • Assists in content creation for Adventist.org and other denominational web sites
  • Assists the Associate Director -Public Relations in Consulting General Conference departments and ministries on social media and web content strategies
  • Works with supervisor in writing feature articles for electronic and print publications that support the Seventh-day Adventist Church brand
  • Copy edits stories for use by outside press and/or external publication prior to publication, using the Associated Press Stylebook style of editing.
  • Monitors daily social media alerts; responding to media concerns as directed by the Associate Director- Public Relations and supports the crisis management function of the same.
  • Photographs for news and public relations
  • Assists Associate Director -Public Relations in editorial meetings in connection with Adventist.org.
  • Assists associate and assistant directors in creating workflow and content creation processes Works in social media/Public Relations at meetings – GC Session, Annual Council, Spring Meeting, etc.
  • Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Must maintain a regular and reliable attendance schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree in Communication, Public Relations, Broadcast Journalism, or English required. Applicable, relevant work experience may be acceptable in lieu of academic requirements.
  • Experience (internship or employment) in daily newspaper or content creation for an institutional web site a plus.
  • Proven writing ability and electronic media production experience required.
  • A minimum of three years successful relevant work experience in writing, editing, and proofreading required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Well-developed knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Strong English language skills are essential. Must be proficient in proofreading.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs such as InDesign, Photoshop as well as experience in a variety of web content management systems essential.
  • Must be able to meet daily deadlines often with numerous interruptions.
  • Must have good organizational skills, work well with people, and have the ability to adapt and work under emergency situations.
