Job Overview: The Gladstone Park Conference Center (GPCC), its grounds and buildings, is intended to be used by the Oregon Conference and its constituent churches and schools for events that further the mission and vision of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The GPCC also may be made available to other non-profit groups and associations and to government entities to the extent that such use does not conflict with the needs, mission, and vision of the Church. With this goal for the GPCC, the role of the GPCC Director is to manage the overall staffing, maintenance, repair needs, safety, and scheduling of the GPCC.

General Responsibilities: The Director's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties and areas.

• Provide leadership and effectively manage personnel in the Gladstone Park Conference Center Department.
• Responsibly manage the department budget, review monthly financial reports, and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Develop and implement long-range plans for facility improvements, renovations, preventative maintenance schedules and facility rentals.
• Supervise groundskeepers, maintenance staff, and specialized crews.
• Authorizes procurement of equipment, supplies, and services from external vendors.
• Secure bids, negotiate contracts, and oversee the work of outside contractors for major construction or repair projects.
• Ensure all grounds and buildings meet local, state, and federal safety codes.
• Negotiate and manage facility service agreements and contracts with outside landscaping or maintenance companies.
• Assist grounds and maintenance team on projects as needed.
• Chair Facilities Operations Committee meetings.

Other

• Attend Conference staff and departmental meetings.
• Participate in presenting/leading out in office worship rotation schedule.
• Other duties as assigned.

Personal Spiritual Life: The GPCC Director should exhibit evidence of a strong spiritual life, being firmly grounded in a personal relationship with Jesus. They must be supportive of the fundamental doctrines and teachings, and the distinctive lifestyle standards of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• The person in this position must have the ability to serve people with professionalism.
• Abe to operate equipment in skilled trades, such as power and hand tools.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Have knowledge of safety practices and OSHA requirements for the worksite.
• Able to perform basic math for workplace and building/construction needs.
• Strong ability to solve problems with equipment and building needs.
• Able to adapt to work efficiently with changing work priorities; meeting deadlines and schedules.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office systems.

Education/Experience:

Must have prior work experience commensurate with the position.

Employment Conditions/Physical Requirements: The majority of the Directors time will be working in varied environments either in an office setting or at a worksite setting.

• Significant = Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
• Frequent = Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, significant fine finger dexterity.
• Occasional = Some climbing and balancing.
• Some occasional lifting and moving of supplies and equipment will be necessary (generally less than 25 pounds).

Other: The Oregon Conference hires Seventh-day Adventist Church members in regular standing based on religious preferences permitted by the United States Constitution and controlling law. The placement of all Director level positions is voted on and approved by the Oregon Conference Executive Committee.

Elected Office Position:All positions of employment for department director and associate department director in the Oregon Conference are elected and confirmed by the Oregon Conference Executive Committee. This committee is elected every five years by the Oregon Conference constituency and are tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the operation of the Conference during the five-year term. Employment in this position is a recognition by the Executive Committee of your leadership abilities and your sacred calling to support the Seventh-day Adventist Church in sharing the Gospel within our territory.
