Job description

Job Title: Universal Banker

Department: Operations

Reports To: Branch Manager

Classification: Exempt Nonexempt

Summary

The Universal Banker has both new account representative and customer service representative duties. This banker is responsible for providing courteous assistance to new and established customers in their selection of various accounts and financial services, cross-selling products and services when appropriate; and processing all new account transactions as well as offering superior customer service by processing transactions as a bank teller.

Supervisor Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services as necessary.

  • Cross-sells products and services to generate new business for the financial institution.

  • Explains financial institution services/products such as checking accounts, savings accounts, IRAs, health savings accounts, certificates of deposit, safe deposit boxes, debit cards, credit cards, mobile banking, online banking/bill pay, remote deposit capture, cash management, and other bank products and services.

  • Opens new accounts following procedures for entering customer information, verifying identity, OFAC lookup, printing forms, obtaining signatures, indexing documents, and submitting information to the core system

  • Ensures that proper customer identification information has been collected prior to opening a new account.

  • Issues ATM or Debit Cards and instructs customers regarding proper use.
  • Assists customers with Internet Banking and Mobile Banking access and use.

  • Prepares contracts and access cards as necessary to rent financial institution safe deposit boxes.

  • Scans and indexes any necessary documents to Centerdoc.

  • Monitors, updates and controls inventory of cards and forms related to the ATM/debit card program.

  • Examines checks deposited to determine proper funds availability based on regulations and place holds as necessary.

  • Accepts and accurately processes requests for name and address changes, unauthorized ACH, debit card disputes, stop payment orders, wire transfers, check orders and other similar services.
  • Performs check back review of all new account information that has been entered on the system or on the Internet Banking system.
  • Performs call back procedures to new users that have been added to the Internet Banking system.
  • Prepares and mails out new debit cards monthly to customers holding cards that are scheduled to expire.
