Job Summary


The Senior Manager, International Tax reports directly to the VP, Tax and plays a critical role in the development and execution of SPX's global tax strategy. This position partners with executive leadership and global business teams to manage international tax planning, ASC 740 reporting, cross-border transactions, global tax compliance, and emerging initiatives such as OECD Pillar Two. The role offers substantial visibility across the organization, direct interaction with senior leadership, and the opportunity to influence strategic business decisions in a complex multinational public company environment.  This role is designed for a high-performing tax professional interested in expanding strategic leadership responsibilities and potentially progressing to broader tax leadership opportunities within the organization.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead global tax planning initiatives and cross-border structuring projects.
  • Advise leadership on the tax consequences of acquisitions, divestitures, financing activities, and legal entity restructurings.
  • Partner with treasury, legal, and finance teams on cash repatriation, foreign tax credit optimization, and ETR management.
  • Prepare and review various components of the global tax provision
  • Review components of federal corporate income tax returns, specifically as it relates to international taxation and disclosure
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of tax positions as part of overall risk management practice to ensure defensibility of positions
  • Assist business units with research and informational reporting requests
  • All duties as directed or modified, including special projects as requested

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with internal customers, peers and subordinates required
  • Proficient in international tax concepts including but not limited to: foreign tax credits, GILTI, repatriation, cross border M&A, foreign exchange issues, Pillar 2, etc
  • Experienced in preparing and reviewing ASC 740 calculations and related disclosures
  • Experienced in general corporate taxation issues, including consolidated returns, accounting methods M&A, and compliance
  • Strong working knowledge of AI tools, Microsoft Office Suite, etc
  • Excellent analytical and time management skillsAbility to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding
  • Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy

Education and Experience

  • Masters of Accounting, MST, JD, or similar educational background and CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive tax experience with a "Big-4" or large public accounting firm serving multi-national public companies or similar industry experience
