MT. PLEASANT PUBLIC SCHOOLS

   INTERNAL/EXTERNAL JOB POSTING  

The following position is available for the 2026-2027 school year. 

LOCATION: Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center Mt. Pleasant Campus

REPORTS TO: GI-TEC Director

DEPT.

CTE (Career and Technical Education) Work Based Learning Coordinator and Outreach Specialist

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor or Associates degree preferred.
  • Relevant industry experience includes, but not limited to:  work based learning, career placement, marketing, recruitment, mentoring, and/or education.
  • Working knowledge of computer software and programs.
  • Demonstrated professional competency in oral and written communication, presentation and documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional tact and diplomacy with administrators, students, teachers, parents and the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide Career and Technical Education (CTE) Work Based Learning program oversight:
    • Verify student eligibility, attendance, compliance, grades and documentation
    • Prepare training agreements, evaluations, and hour verification
    • Adhere to Pupil Accounting and Labor Laws
    • Communicate with students, employers, staff and community members
    • Manage the data collection via a CMS (Content Management System)
    • Facilitate partnerships and collaboration with business and industry
    • Meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of all high school age students
  • Provide career exploration activities to high school age students, including, but not limited to:  Career Expo, Employability Skills, Career Readiness, Local Career Fairs, etc.
  • Perform recruitment activities for the GI-TEC Mt. Pleasant campus.
  • Oversight of the GI-TEC College Articulation process.
  • Oversight of the Work Permit process.
  • Assist the GI-TEC Attendance Team and their activities.
  • Act as a liaison between the students, staff and GI-TEC Career Counselor.
  • Perform community outreach (MichiganWorks!, GIRESD, Chamber of Commerce, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate, complete, correct records, and program documentation as required by law, district policy and CTE compliance.
  • Provide high quality Work Based Learning opportunities that supports and aligns to the district's educational vision and mission.
  • Utilize educational technology to support student achievement.
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
  • Build positive rapport with students to encourage engagement and a respectful school environment.
  • Enforce school policies and procedures consistently and respectfully.
  • Follow all MPPS School Board policies, the MI Code of Educational Ethics and GI-TEC guidelines.
  • Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the building administrator or designee.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive practices and commitment to an inclusive learning environment.

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions established in the Agreement between the Mt. Pleasant Support Personnel Association and the Mt. Pleasant School District Board of Education.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:  This is a 227 day (8 hour/day) position with salary and benefits, starting at $40,570.
