About the Facility - Southern Bands HC
The Southern Bands Health Center, located in Elko, Nevada, is a comprehensive and accredited ambulatory clinic dedicated to providing a wide range of medical and dental services. The facility offers primary care, preventive services, and specialty care for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. It also emphasizes health education and wellness programs to enhance overall health outcomes. The center includes an on-site pharmacy with advanced dispensing technology, diagnostic services, laboratory tests, minor surgical procedures, and a 24/7 Nurse Advice Line. Podiatrist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • The Podiatrist performs professional work involved in the care and treatment of the feet, ankles, and legs, including the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and disorders by physical, medical, and/or minor surgical methods.
  • Conduct biomechanical examinations of lower extremities.
  • Provide non-surgical podiatric care, including casting, splinting, taping, and orthotic prescriptions.
  • Administer injections, aspiration, and prescribe topical and oral medications.
  • Document and update patient records accurately, including ICD and CPT codes.
  • Complete patient care tasks before shift end.
  • The Podiatrist performs closed reduction of foot and ankle dislocations and fractures.
  • Debride wounds, ulcers, toenails, and calluses.
  • Conduct toenail removal (total or partial) and closure of lacerations.
  • Remove foreign bodies and perform other approved procedures.
  • Provide comprehensive care for adult and pediatric patients, handling complex and critical cases.
  • Serve as a consultant for Southern Bands Health Center medical personnel and Client field hospitals.
  • Provide emergency care, including patient history review, diagnostic tests, and treatment.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans, including prevention, health maintenance, and follow-up.
  • The Podiatrist performs diagnostic imaging and laboratory study interpretation for podiatric care.
Podiatrist - REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Must have completed 4 years of accredited medical school leading to a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree.
  • Residency: Completion of a podiatry medicine residency is required.
  • Board Certification: Must be board certified in either Podiatric Primary Care or Podiatric Surgery.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of current experience in podiatric specialty medicine.
  • Certification: A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Licensure: Shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted physician license in the state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. Territory.
