Global Employment, Immigration & Equity Compensation Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Global Employment, Immigration & Equity Compensation Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in New York City or one of its California offices (Irvine/Orange County, Los Angeles, Menlo Park/Silicon Valley, San Francisco, or Santa Monica). The firm is also open to candidates interested in a Career Associate track.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 2-4 years of experience in employment-based immigration law to join a nationally recognized Employment Law practice. The role offers the opportunity to advise technology startups and multinational employers on sophisticated U.S. immigration, global employment, and equity compensation matters.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on U.S. employment-based immigration and global employment law matters.

  • Conduct visa assessments and develop immigration strategies tailored to clients' workforce needs.

  • Prepare and file employment-based nonimmigrant visa petitions, including H-1B, E-3, L-1, O-1, TN, and E-2 petitions.

  • Guide employers through employment-based permanent residence and PERM processes.

  • Counsel multinational employers on employment immigration compliance and workplace policies.

  • Advise clients on international employment matters, including hiring, performance management, and employment policies across jurisdictions.

  • Assist with global employment law analyses and prepare comparative overviews of international employment laws.

  • Support the preparation of equity compensation overviews and related employment matters.

  • Collaborate closely with innovative technology companies and multinational employers on complex workforce issues.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in the California or New York State Bar, depending on office location.

  • 2-4 years of experience practicing U.S. employment-based immigration law.

  • Significant experience preparing and filing a high volume of employment-based nonimmigrant visa petitions and responding to Requests for Evidence (RFEs) with minimal supervision.

  • Experience advising multinational companies on employment immigration matters.

  • Experience with global employment law and equity compensation counseling, or a strong interest in developing these practice areas.

  • Experience with global immigration law is a plus.

  • Prior experience at a corporate immigration law firm is preferred.

  • Strong analytical, drafting, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering practical, business-focused legal solutions.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, sound professional judgment, and a collaborative approach to client service.
