Job Summary:
First Bank is seeking a Senior Web Developer with a strong focus on building high-quality, user-facing web experiences. This role involves hands-on WordPress development and UI engineering, collaborating with various teams to deliver polished, production-ready interfaces.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain complex WordPress-based websites and responsive, user‑friendly web applications.
• Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, and integrations, balancing custom development with strategic use of existing plugins.
• Build intuitive and accessible user interfaces using modern front‑end frameworks, WordPress, HTML, and CSS.
• Ensure all user interfaces adhere to established brand standards, design guidelines, UX/UI best practices, and visual identity.
• Collaborate with digital marketing partners and designers to translate designs and campaigns into high‑quality implementations that meet goals and project deadlines.
• Participate in marketing‑related planning and working sessions to support digital initiatives and ensure alignment.
• Ensure application performance, security, reliability, and scalability, including plugin management, updates, optimization, and coordination with hosting and infrastructure teams.
• Write clean, well‑documented, and testable code.
• Participate in code and accessibility reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects.
• Integrate WordPress and frontend components with internal and third-party APIs, forms, and marketing or analytics platforms.
• Implement resilient UI patterns for handling API responses, loading states, and errors.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across engineering, product, and marketing.
• Completes annual compliance courses.
• Adheres specifically to all corporate policies and procedures. Also adheres to Federal and State regulations and laws; including, the Bank Secrecy Act and the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
• Adheres to our Service Excellence standards and promotes their implementation with peers and associates they support.
• Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Strong experience with web development technologies, including: HTML, CSS, JavaScript / TypeScript
• Modern front‑end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue)
• Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining WordPress-based websites, including custom themes, plugins, CMS configurations, and integrations
• Keen understanding of WordPress architecture, plugin ecosystems, content modeling, and CMS workflows in a marketing-driven environment
• Experience integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs (JSON-based)
• Strong understanding of how backend systems impact frontend performance and behavior (no backend ownership required)
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Understanding of web accessibility, performance optimization, and responsive design
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
• This role is focused on frontend/UI engineering. Candidates whose experience is primarily backend or full-stack without strong UI development experience will not be a fit
Preferred:
• Experience partnering with digital marketing teams and graphic designers on user‑facing web initiatives
• Experience with design systems and component libraries
• Familiarity with cloud platforms e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Experience with marketing technology platforms such as HubSpot (CMS, forms, integrations), Google analytics, or marketing-driven web workflows
