The Water Resources Department is looking to fill an internship position in the following divisions:
  • Water Use Efficiency
Interns are temporary employees who provide support for District staff at varying levels and who receive on-the-job training. Interns are assigned to work on a broad range of projects and assignments in different District units. Interns work side-by-side with District staff to obtain working knowledge and training in the area of assignment related to their field of study. Placement in this classification is temporary, and permanent employment is not guaranteed.
The District may not employ an Intern for more than six (6) months full time (21-30 hours per week), or if working on a part-time schedule (20 hours or less per week), more than 1,000 hours or 125 days in a fiscal year. Subject to these fiscal year time limits, intern work assignments are limited to a maximum of 12 months.
This internship provides hands-on experience supporting the Alameda County Water District's (ACWD) Water Use Efficiency Team. The intern will primarily assist with projects that support the District's efforts to meet its Urban Water Use Objective under California's "Make Conservation a California Way of Life" legislation. The position offers opportunities to contribute to administering water use efficiency programs, outreach, research, data analysis, website administration, and may include presenting information to District staff and the District Board, while gaining experience in water conservation, utility customer service, water usage data analytics, and water policy analysis.
This intern will work in person at ACWD headquarters in Fremont.

• Develop and update outreach materials, including flyers, brochures, presentations, and website content.
• Assist with website administration and development of cohesive branding for Water Use Efficiency outreach materials and online resources.
• Manipulate, track, organize, and analyze large datasets to support program implementation and reporting.
• Prepare technical reports, memoranda, presentations, and other communication materials.
• Collaborate with staff on various Water Resources Department projects and initiatives.
• Complete assignments using a variety of computer programs and software tools.
