General Description
SUNY Niagara has a need for a part time Music Instructor for our all College Choir.
The all College Choir is a vocal ensemble devoted to performing choral literature. This ensemble will focus on choral styles, vocal production, and will perform several times each semester on- and off- campus. (Usually offered Fall and Spring semesters.)
This course is taught in person on our Sanborn, NY campus. Classes will involve rehearsing and performance of selected works. Students will rehearse selected pieces perfecting notes, rhythms and working musical concepts such as tone quality, phrasing, dynamics, articulations, and balance.
Students will be expected to sing and play upon instructor request and at all performances.
Remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester: $960 per lecture hour/$860 per lab hour.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. Candidates who submit their information may or may not be notified as to the status of their application.

Essential Functions
Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of experience teaching at a high school or college level

Desirable Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Music or related field
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software i.e. Excel and Word
  • Experience with the Brightspace learning management system.
