The Position:
Veracyte utilizes Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and microarray technologies in combination with proprietary analysis pipelines to examine molecular signatures that ultimately assist physicians in managing patient care across a variety of cancer types. We are seeking a 6 month part-time intern for recent graduates (< 1 year) to join us and have hands-on learning opportunity in the development of Veracyte's Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) pipeline. Your contribution will enable effective research and development in our lab, supporting scientists and creating an environment conducive to optimal work. Your responsibilities will involve helping the team to execute experiments across projects that are prioritized for the Development team during your internship period. You will collaborate with a highly engaged team of scientists and work closely with other groups across Veracyte. Additionally, you will have opportunities for ongoing training and sharing ideas to continuously improve lab processes.
Your assignments will include:
  • Handling biological/clinical specimens
  • Processing these specimens for NGS, including nucleic acid extraction and library preparation through sequencing data generation.
  • Participating in experimental design, execution, and analysis discussion.
  • Conducting general lab maintenance management
  • Performing all laboratory activities in accordance with the Quality Assurance Program

For candidates based in our San Diego office, the hourly range is $20.00 - $22.00 an hour.
The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience, skillset, geographic location, industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
