Job description

Description

Basic Function:   

Assist the Engineering Department with various assignments including but not limited to: continuous improvement initiatives, 3D design & print work, scrap reductions projects, process design/optimization, non-conforming material review, and overall production support.


General Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with shop personnel to understand internal processes and product flow.
  2. Wear proper safety equipment and maintain a clean, safe work area at all times.
  3. Understand how to read and interpret customer B/P's.
  4. Perform job tasks efficiently according to established standards to deliver quality workmanship.
  5. Report any problems, discrepancies, or issues to immediate management.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Design, create, print and test 3D fixtures for production needs; working with inputs from production team 
  2. Develop an understanding of lean manufacturing principles as well as the tools required to implement continuous improvement projects
  3. Understand customer requirements, internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship.
  4. Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) to identify root cause of defects found in production.
  5. Analyze processes and input engineering changes that will lead to performance gains in productivity, quality, and/or On Time Delivery to our customers.   
  6. Collaborate with technical writers on updating work instructions where needed and/or after successful process improvement initiatives
  7. Model castings and gating systems in CAD software for use in simulation applications.
  8. Work with engineers to fix process and/or design issues leading to the production of scrap.
  9. Any and all other responsibilities assigned to and needed by the company & management

Requirements

Education/Training:

Attending a four-year college for Engineering (Preferably Mechanical or Aerospace). Please provide a copy of your transcript.
