Job description

Job Summary: 

The Financial Data Analyst supports two core functions: Financial Planning & Analysis (FPA) and Internal Audit. This role is responsible for transforming data into actionable insights that drive financial decision-making, support audit activities, and improve operational visibility across the Bamboo organization. The finance team is looking for someone who is detail oriented and eager to learn how the day-to-day operations of Bamboo are integrated into the Company’s financial performance. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, proficient in data tools and SQL, and comfortable working across departments to deliver timely and accurate reporting and analysis.  

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Builds and maintains financial reporting and non-financial (Business KPI) reporting, and data sets for FP&A and Internal Audit teams 

  • Queries and transforms data from the data warehouse and operational systems using SQL and BI tools to support financial analysis and audit requests 

  • Partners with FP&A to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with reliable, well-structured data models and reports 

  • Supports Internal Audit by providing data extracts, performing control-testing analytics, and preparing exception reporting to identify anomalies 

  • Performs other related ad-hoc duties as assigned 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Working knowledge of financial statements, familiarity with FP&A processes (budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis) and/or internal audit concepts (control testing, risk assessment) 

  • Advanced-Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills 

  • Experience in report building tools (e.g., Tableau, Pyramid, PowerBI) 

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to establish rapport, credibility, trust, and positive relationships with all departments 

  • Proficient in effectively planning and prioritizing work activities 

  • Intermediate SQL skills with ability to write queries, joins, and aggregations to extract and manipulate data from relational databases 

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at one time and prioritize appropriately 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience. 

  • 2+ years’ experience in an analyst (or related) role 

Preferred Requirements: 

  • 1+ years’ experience in property and casualty insurance 

  • Hands-on experience with Tableau, Pyramid, PowerBI or similar BI tools for dashboard creation and self-service reporting 

  • Advanced SQL skills and/or knowledge with Python or R for data analysis and automation 

  • Experience in Guidewire or other modern policy administration systems 

  • Experience working with different technology platforms, especially general ledger system, Process One, Tipalti 

  • Exposure to internal audit methodologies, SOX compliance, or data governance frameworks 

  • Understanding of insurance products, policies, and services 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

Salary: Starting at $90,000 annually. Candidate's skills, experience and abilities will be taken into consideration for final offer.
