The ministry is made up of two operating entities: Lenawee Christian School and the Christian Family Centre, located in Adrian, MI.

POSITION SUMNMARY.

The JV Boys Basketball Coach provides leadership and instruction to develop student-athletes physically, emotionally, and spiritually within the sport of basketball. This role supports the overall vision and structure of the basketball program while fostering skill development, teamwork, and Christ-centered character.

The Coach is responsible for creating a positive, competitive, and growth-oriented team environment that aligns with the mission and values of Lenawee Christian School.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

Program Alignment & Development

  • Support and teach within the established vision, structure, and philosophy of the basketball program.
  • Align coaching approach with the expectations of the Athletic Director and Varsity program.

Practice Planning & Skill Development

  • Plan and lead effective practices focused on individual skill development and team fundamentals.
  • Provide age-appropriate instruction to develop basketball knowledge and execution.
  • Promote discipline, effort, and continuous improvement.

Game Strategy & Competition

  • Develop and implement game strategies with the goal of competing in every contest.
  • Prepare athletes mentally and physically for competition.
  • Model sportsmanship and professionalism during games.

Team Culture & Student Development

  • Foster a positive team culture built on accountability, encouragement, and teamwork.
  • Support the emotional and personal development of student-athletes.
  • Encourage student-athletes to recognize and develop their individual gifts and abilities.

Communication & Relationships

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, officials, and school staff.
  • Provide clear expectations regarding team policies, schedules, and performance.
  • Represent Lenawee Christian School with integrity in all interactions.

Program Support & Off-Season Engagement

  • Support off-season development opportunities, including open gyms, camps, and training sessions.
  • Assist in building long-term program strength and continuity.

Mission Integration

  • Model Christ-centered leadership and behavior in all interactions.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and regularly share faith-based encouragement with student-athletes.
  • Support the spiritual growth of students through coaching and mentorship.


QUALIFICATIONS.

Christian Faith & Character

  • Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony and adherence to biblical principles in personal and professional life.
  • Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, and a strong commitment to excellence and servant leadership

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of basketball coaching experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and team development.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop student-athletes.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to collaborate with coaching staff and school leadership.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or ability to obtain).

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Ability to manage groups and maintain a safe environment during physical activity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and engage students of varying abilities.
  • Organizational and time management skills.


EMPLOYMENT TERMS.

  • This position is classified as seasonal, honorarium-based and follows the MHSAA boys’ basketball season (November–March).
  • Compensation is provided as a stipend (honorarium) and is not based on hourly wages.
  • The role requires availability for:
    • Practices
    • Games (including evenings and weekends)
    • Team meetings and program activities
  • Employment is at-will and contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, including background screening and adherence to the ministry’s Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Commitment.
