Senior Project Engineer - Integrated Design Engineering
Company:

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) organization is hiring a Senior Project Engineer to join the Integrated Design Engineering (IDE) Team in Huntsville, Alabama on the Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Mechanical Engineering Capability Team. In this role, your home base will be supporting the IAMD programs, but all SI&WS programs that IDE supports are within scope.
The IDE team is responsible for the design, analysis, release and maintenance of the technical data package for developmental or flight hardware as well as supporting production and special test equipment design for various products within the IAMD portfolio. IAMD IDE supported programs include Intermediate Fires and Protection Controls (IFPC-2) (pending contract award), the Boeing Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) Seeker and Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) product lines. These programs encompass new designs as well test, manufacturing and production support for complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Advise, assist, and check engineering execution planning for the IAMD portfolio
  • Lead the transition of IDE capability from Windchill PLM to the Sapphire tool suite
  • Lead the transition of IDE capability (on PAC-3) from 2D drawing authority to 3D/MBD authority
  • Document, advise, assist, and check IFPC-2 C-NRPD process planning and execution
  • Develop and maintain metrics that inform the IAMD portfolio Chief Engineer on engineering execution performance and quality
  • Advise, assist, and check IDE capability Risks, Issues, and Opportunity management across the IAMD portfolio
  • Serve as the primary focal for IDE capability proposal BOE generation and review
  • Develop resource planning and workflow management tools to forecast, plan, and support engineering execution across the IAMD portfolio
  • Develop, advise, and support quantifiable backup data creation and maintenance for earned value management contracts within the IAMD portfolio
  • Collaborate closely with design, test, and manufacturing teams to integrate engineering and program requirements into the overall design lifecycle
  • Mentor Integrated Design Engineering team members and provide subject matter expertise for design engineering project tools and best practices
  • Communicate technical information effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and external agencies

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 14+ years of applicable experience in a Design Engineering related role
  • Proficiency with tools involving project management best practices (PMBP)
  • Advanced knowledge of design concepts and techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills. Ability to influence others
  • Ability to support, lead, and delegate the project team's responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project life cycle
  • Experience using Common Non-Recurring Product Development (C-NRPD) or equivalent development processes
  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area
