Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Malpractice Intake Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for prospective clients. This role is critical to our practice and requires a high level of professionalism, empathy, and judgment. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling sensitive conversations, quickly identifying key issues, and clearly summarizing complex medical and factual information for legal review.
Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial contact for prospective medical malpractice clients, handling inbound calls with professionalism, empathy, and discretion
  • Conduct structured intake interviews to gather essential case information, including:
    • Timeline of medical care and events
    • Healthcare providers and facilities involved
    • Alleged medical errors or deviations from care
    • Nature and severity of injuries
  • Accurately document and summarize potential cases for attorney and paralegal review
  • Identify and appropriately flag high-priority matters, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases
  • Maintain complete and accurate records within the firm's intake and case management systems
  • Route matters in accordance with firm criteria and established procedures
  • Set clear and realistic expectations with callers regarding next steps and follow-up
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in medical, legal, or personal injury intake strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and an ability to understand complex clinical scenarios
  • Strong interviewing, listening, and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize information clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrated ability to handle emotionally charged situations with professionalism and composure
  • Strong attention to detail and sound judgment in assessing and prioritizing cases
