Job description

About Modular Solutions

Founded in 2015, Modular Solutions delivers innovative technology to the insurance industry. Our modular, fully integrated platform enables insurers, mutuals, MGAs and brokers with programs with the ability to manage their entire operations seamlessly through a single software solution. Designed to be affordable and configurable, our platform empowers businesses to innovate, adapt and thrive in an evolving and competitive market.

Position Summary

Modular Solutions is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Product Owners to contribute to the ongoing enhancement of our insurance platform. This posting will be used to fill multiple Product Owner opportunities, with each successful candidate aligned to a specific product stream based on experience, business priorities, and team needs. Product ownership areas may include finance, platform migrations, underwriting and claims, broker stakeholder workflows, including broker portal functionality, email/communications, and related insurance operations capabilities.

The ideal candidates will bring a strong understanding of insurance operations and agile product delivery, with the ability to translate complex business processes into clear, actionable requirements. Whether focused on financial workflows, customer and broker-facing experiences, migration readiness, or underwriting and claims capabilities, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between stakeholders and development teams to ensure business needs are clearly defined, prioritized, and delivered effectively.

We are an AI-enabled team and use AI tools to support product configuration, documentation, research, and workflow efficiency. You don't need to be an AI expert, but you should be comfortable using AI tools responsibly and applying sound judgment when reviewing and validating outputs.

Key Responsibilities

Core Product Ownership Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned product areas, supporting developers, stakeholders, implementation teams, and internal business users.
  • Translate business, customer, and operational needs into clear, actionable product requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Own and manage the product backlog for assigned product streams, balancing client needs, technical considerations, operational priorities, and strategic product direction.
  • Serve as the bridge between stakeholders and development teams to support the delivery of high-quality, iterative releases.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define workflows, document configuration logic, clarify business rules, and support scalable product design.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, release planning, and other agile ceremonies to maintain alignment and delivery momentum.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and support product validation to ensure features meet business requirements, usability expectations, and quality standards.
  • Assist with product demos, training, documentation, and knowledge transfer for internal and external users.
  • Analyze user feedback, stakeholder input, product performance, and operational impacts to inform future product iterations.
  • Communicate progress, risks, decisions, and dependencies clearly and proactively to team members, project leads, and stakeholders.
  • Champion continuous improvement across product processes, collaboration models, documentation practices, and delivery workflows.
  • Use internal technology systems and AI-enabled tools responsibly to support product configuration, documentation, research, workflow analysis, and productivity.
  • Other duties as required and requested by Modular Solutions Inc.

Assigned Product Stream Responsibilities

  • Each Product Owner will be aligned to one or more product streams based on experience, business priorities, and team needs. Responsibilities may include ownership of product capabilities related to finance, broker management, stakeholder workflows, worklists, broker portal functionality, email and communications, or other related platform areas.
  • Depending on the assigned stream, responsibilities may include defining requirements for financial workflows, billing, payments, reconciliation, reporting, broker-facing experiences, workflows, task and queue management, communication workflows, system-generated emails, integrations, or related platform functionality.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, ideally in roles such as an accounting or finance team member utilizing a policy administration system for accounts receivable and payable generation, reconciliation and reporting, or as a business development team member managing communications with broker stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance operations and workflows, including broker, underwriter, and policy administration processes.
  • Ability to model/document requirements, user flows, use cases, and configuration logic.
  • Solid technical understanding of systems architecture, data flows, APIs, and application logic.
  • Familiarity with policy administration systems, insurance SaaS platforms, or other configurable technology solutions.
  • Proficient in tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, and Miro, or other platforms used for backlog management and sprint planning in agile environments.
  • Experience facilitating user acceptance testing (UAT) and supporting product validation activities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business perspectives.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, especially when evaluating complex rating logic or insurance documentation.
  • Detail-oriented with a high standard for quality, accuracy, and release readiness.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, cross-functional team environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), with hands-on experience in sprint planning and backlog grooming.
  • Understanding of change management principles and their role in successful product adoption and release.
