Litigation Attorney

An established personal injury law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join its growing legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys managing personal injury litigation from case evaluation through trial while working closely with firm leadership. The role also includes mentoring legal support staff and contributing to the firm's continued success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of personal injury litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Represent clients during negotiations, mediations, depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Review and evaluate medical records, billing documentation, and injury-related evidence.
  • Develop litigation strategies and advocate for favorable client outcomes.
  • Analyze automobile insurance coverage and claims issues under Virginia law.
  • Work closely with firm leadership on legal strategy and case management.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to paralegals and legal support staff.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation using case management software.
  • Prepare legal pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
Required Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
  • 3-5 years of litigation experience with a strong focus on personal injury matters.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and courtroom advocacy skills.
  • Solid understanding of personal injury law, including medical records, medical billing, and injury evaluation.
  • Knowledge of Virginia automobile insurance coverage and claims practices.
  • Experience using legal case management software (Neos experience is preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising or mentoring paralegals and legal support staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Membership in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (VTLA) and/or Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys (VADA).
  • Business education or professional business experience.
