Controller – Lead Financial Compliance and Project Accounting for Multi-State Operations Job Overview

The Opportunity

As the Controller for North Georgia Civil Inc., you will be a cornerstone of our financial operations, reporting directly to the CFO. You will own the complexities of multi-state tax compliance and project accounting, ensuring our rapidly expanding construction portfolio remains organized and compliant. This role offers the chance to drive financial integrity while supporting project teams in delivering high-impact federal and commercial builds.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Manage multi-state tax liabilities and monitor state nexus triggers as the company expands into new geographic markets.

  • Coordinate with external CPA firms to execute seamless year-end filings, 1099 preparations, and corrections.

  • Support Project Managers by streamlining monthly invoice submittals and reconciling subcontractor billings against contract values.

  • Oversee the pay application lifecycle, ensuring accurate subcontractor distributions and meticulous budget reconciliations.

  • Generate and track subcontractor purchase orders and change orders within integrated project management platforms.

  • Maintain financial transparency by reconciling bank accounts, credit card statements, and surety bond statuses monthly.

  • Drive cash flow improvements by reducing DSO and ensuring change orders are processed within targeted timelines.

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop or Online, including general ledger management.

  • Direct experience in multi-state tax compliance and nexus analysis.

  • Advanced expertise in Excel and Google Sheets for complex financial reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume deadlines across multiple legal jurisdictions.

  • Strong attention to detail regarding contract amounts, PO values, and insurance riders.
