Job description

Vistar Eye Center is seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Coding/Insurance Coordinator to support patients with insurance benefits, billing questions, and financial arrangements. This position works closely with insurance companies and internal teams to ensure accurate billing, coding, and account management.

What You'll Do

  • Accurately code and enter surgical charges
  • Review claims and billing reports for accuracy and correct billing edits
  • Process insurance claims, payments, transfers, and surgical charges
  • Serve as a resource regarding insurance claims, policies, and procedures
  • Monitor outstanding insurance and patient accounts and follow up on unpaid balances
  • Assist with charge distribution, co-management, and compliance audits
  • Answer patient billing questions and assist with payment arrangements
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and financial information

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of medical office experience involving insurance preferred
  • Experience with medical billing and coding, including CPT/ICD-10, preferred
  • One year of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to work accurately with confidential information
  • Computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic medical record and billing systems
