Claims Examiner - Insurance Carrier - Base Salary to 100k/year - Great Neck, NY

  • Our client, a large and growing insurance carrier, is seeking a Claims Examiner to manage complex bodily injury, property damage, and litigated third-party liability claims involving commercial auto, trucking, transportation, fleet, and business insurance policies.
  • This role is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving complex commercial liability claims while coordinating with attorneys, Third Party Administrators (TPAs), claimants, medical providers, defense counsel, and internal teams. Seeking candidates with 3+ years of experience handling commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) claims involving bodily injury, property damage, litigation management, coverage analysis, and settlement negotiations.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve third-party liability claims involving bodily injury, property damage, commercial auto, trucking, transportation, fleet, and business insurance policies.
  • Handle litigated claims including coordination with defense counsel, mediators, attorneys, and Third Party Administrators (TPAs).
  • Review and analyze police reports, medical records, witness statements, claim files, legal documents, and insurance coverage information to determine liability and settlement exposure.
  • Evaluate claim reserves, settlement strategies, and claim resolution plans in accordance with company guidelines and state regulations.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, medical providers, and other involved parties.
  • Maintain detailed electronic claim documentation, activity notes, reports, and claim status updates.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and legal teams regarding claim strategy, litigation management, and claim resolution.
  • Attend mediations, hearings, depositions, and trials as needed.
  • Manage multiple active claims simultaneously while maintaining timely follow-up and file handling standards.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience handling third-party liability claims, bodily injury claims, and property damage claims.
  • Experience handling litigated claims and working directly with attorneys, mediators, defense counsel, and legal teams.
  • Experience managing commercial auto, trucking, transportation, fleet, business liability, or commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) claims.
  • Knowledge of insurance coverage analysis, liability determination, claim investigation, coverage investigation, claim reserves, and settlement negotiation.
  • Understanding of state-specific claim handling regulations and insurance policy interpretation.
  • Experience working with Third Party Administrators (TPAs).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to maintain detailed electronic claim documentation and manage multiple open claims simultaneously.

Compensation:

  • Base salary in the 60k - 100k/year range
  • Medical (PPO), dental (PPO), vision (PPO), and life insurance covered 100% for employees and 50% for dependents.
  • 401k with 4% company match.
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and 13 paid holidays.
