Burrell Behavioral Health is seeking an Insurance Billing Specialist to join our compassionate, collaborative team. Key Responsibilities:
Create, review, and submit private insurance claims accurately and within established billing timelines
Audit claims documentation to verify appropriate diagnoses, coding, and charge accuracy prior to submission
Monitor claim processing, reimbursements, denials, authorizations, and payment timelines while maintaining detailed records
Investigate and resolve unpaid or denied claims, including preparing and submitting appeals within required deadlines
Communicate claim and appeal statuses with program staff and stakeholders to support continuity of operations
Prepare and distribute reports related to accounts receivable, claim activity, reimbursements, and billing performance
Assist with monitoring receivable accounts and provide recommendations regarding collections, write-offs, and reimbursements
Support enhancements to billing systems and client demographic databases to improve efficiency and accuracy
Collaborate with leadership and complete additional duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
High school diploma required; coursework in typing and business practices preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of bookkeeping experience required
Minimum of two (2) years of insurance billing experience required
Knowledge of medical billing and collection practices
Basic knowledge of medical coding and third-party payer procedures
Strong communication and customer service skills
Excellent 10-key and alphanumeric data entry skills with strong attention to detail
Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web-based applications

Additional Qualifications:
Current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance required
Successful completion of background screening, including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint checks

Physical Requirements
Perform sedentary work involving exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible force frequently to move objects
Use hands, fingers, and arms repetitively for typing, data entry, and writing throughout the workday
Remain seated for extended periods while performing job duties
Walk or stand occasionally as needed during the workday
