The Instrument & Electrical Designer will be responsible for design work supporting small facility-based projects in an active chemical manufacturing plant. The role involves meeting or exceeding the company's safety standards, complying with all company procedures and engineering practices, and working closely with project team members to achieve project success.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
  • Meet or exceed the company's safety standards.
  • Comply with all company procedures, engineering practices, and other standards.
  • Work closely and interact with project team members to achieve project success, including Plant Engineering Groups, Internal and External Design Contractors, Construction Contractors, and Maintenance Resources.
  • Read and fully understand all documents which describe the scope of work to be done, including vendor drawings, one-lines, electrical plans, and conduit schedules, wiring schematics, and loop diagrams.
  • Provide Instrument & Electrical designs for capital and maintenance projects.
  • Field as-built, updates as required.
  • Apply company and industry standards to generate Instrument and Electrical construction drawings.
  • Medium Voltage and Low Voltage electrical systems.
  • Power, Control and Instrument wiring.
  • Lighting and Equipment grounding plans.
  • Create written field letters to describe required work.
  • Perform material take-offs and create BOMs.
  • Assist with construction estimating.

Expected:
  • 3-6+ years of industrial experience working in the design field.
  • Chemical Manufacturing or Related Industry Experience is required.
  • Work experience as an Electrician is desirable.
  • Experience with the design of Instrument and Electrical systems including electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, plan and location drawings, conduit and cable tray layouts, pressure, temperature, flow, density, and other instrumentation, instrument loops, PLC and DCS designs, field design experience.
  • Able to wear required PPE.
  • Operate vehicles safely to job-site.
  • Climb ladders and stairs.
  • Field measurement work environment.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
