About the Opportunity

Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Instructor for a confidential opportunity with a technical college in Southwest Wisconsin. This role is designed for an experienced automation professional who is ready to step into a teaching and workforce development role.

The Instructor will help train the next generation of skilled workers in industrial automation, robotics, motor controls, and PLC programming. This position blends hands-on instruction with real-world industry collaboration, including partnerships with local manufacturers to address workforce needs and support smart manufacturing initiatives. No prior teaching experience is requiredโ€”training is provided for the transition into education.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands-on instruction in PLCs, robotics, motor controls, and industrial automation

  • Guide students through real-world manufacturing and automation projects

  • Support development of an advanced manufacturing / automation program aligned with industry needs

  • Help students build practical skills in troubleshooting, systems integration, and automation technologies

  • Partner with local manufacturers to assess workforce training needs

  • Support the Wisconsin Energy Partnership (WEP) initiative and related workforce development efforts

  • Develop and deliver customized training programs for upskilling industry employees

  • Assist companies in implementing smart manufacturing and automation strategies

  • Engage high school students through dual-credit courses and career exploration programs

  • Participate in STEM events, workshops, and career fairs

  • Promote careers in automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Automation, Industrial Technology, Electro-Mechanical, Robotics, or related field

  • 5+ years of industry experience in automation, PLC programming, robotics, or motor controls

  • Strong technical knowledge of industrial automation systems

  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a teaching environment

  • Experience developing training programs or instructional materials (preferred)

  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC systems (preferred)

  • Certifications in automation, robotics, or related technologies (preferred)

Technical Skills

  • PLC Programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)

  • Robotics systems operation and troubleshooting

  • Motor controls (AC/DC motors, VFDs, starters, control logic)
