What is an installation project manager?

Installation Project Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing and coordinating the installation of systems, equipment, or structures for various industries, such as construction, IT, or manufacturing. They plan project timelines, manage resources, supervise installation teams, and ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. Their role also involves communicating with clients, resolving issues that arise during installations, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Strong organizational and leadership skills are essential for this job.

What are some common challenges installation project managers face when coordinating multiple installation projects simultaneously?

Installation Project Managers often juggle several projects at once, which can present challenges such as managing overlapping timelines, ensuring resource availability, and keeping all stakeholders informed. Balancing project budgets, adapting to unexpected site issues, and maintaining quality standards are also common hurdles. Effective communication, robust scheduling tools, and strong organizational skills are essential to successfully navigate these complexities and keep projects on track.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an installation project manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Installation Project Manager, you need strong project management skills, industry knowledge, and typically a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Job description

About the Role

L&L Flooring is looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee active flooring installation projects from start to finish. In this role, you'll be the key point of coordination between our installation manager, installers, and clients — making sure every project stays on schedule, on budget, and meets our quality standards. You'll also take ownership of warranty claims and callbacks, ensuring customer issues are resolved quickly and professionally.

What You'll Do

  • Manage multiple active projects simultaneously, tracking timelines, budgets, and milestones
  • Coordinate closely with the Installation Manager and installation crews to schedule and sequence work efficiently
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project status updates, resolving issues before they cause delays
  • Ensure all projects are completed in a timely, professional manner that meets company and customer expectations
  • Manage warranty claims and callback requests — investigating issues, scheduling repairs, and communicating with customers throughout the process
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including scopes of work, change orders, and completion records
  • Proactively identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, material shortages, or site issues
  • Communicate regularly with customers to keep them informed on project progress

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in project management, ideally in flooring, construction, or a related trade
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Excellent communication skills — comfortable coordinating between crews, management, and customers
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Experience handling warranty or service issues is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits

The right person for this role is a natural problem solver who remains calm under pressure, communicates well with customers, and understands that resolving issues professionally can turn a frustrated customer into a lifelong advocate for our company.

At L & L Flooring & Design, we believe the job isn't finished until the customer is completely satisfied, and this position plays a critical role in protecting that reputation.
